Boba Fett is cool because, in ESB, he out smarts the main characters TWICE. This is what people don't get. He is cool because he is smart. When they thought Captain Phasma was going to be "the new Boba Fett" but they had her fail repeatedly. No little kid is going to say, "I want to be Captain Phasma" because she is a buffoon.

Darth Vader also shines in ESB because he doesn't do anything stupid in that whole movie. Lucas didn't direct ESB and, I've heard, he wanted to take this villain worship away from Boba Fett so he took him down a notch by falling into the Sarlacc pit like a clown.
