Seven Sins System Chapter 909. Patience's Rage II

Seven Sins System Chapter 909. Patience's Rage II

Honestly, looking back, it was a miracle we hadn't accidentally killed each other before discovering that we were attracted to one another.

Puriel glanced at me. Her expression softened. "That was in the past." Her hand found mine. "Now? We're not enemies anymore."

Patience closed her eyes. For several seconds, she said nothing. I couldn't tell what she was thinking. Disappointment, perhaps. Or resignation.

Eventually, Patience exhaled. Her sword dissolved into golden particles. "At least…" She opened her eyes again. "At least you're recovering."

Puriel smiled. "Yes."

Patience looked toward the glowing core manifestation beneath Puriel's skin. The black contamination was gone. Her breathing was steady. The holy energy circulating through her body had begun repairing the damaged structures naturally.

Patience's shoulders relaxed. "That's good."

Then another voice drifted in from the doorway.

"Yes. They're definitely good."

I turned my head.

Asmo.

The bastard stood against the doorframe, arms crossed, wearing an expression I had never expected to see on the Lord of Lust. Jealousy. Absolutely magnificent jealousy. His gaze moved from Puriel to me. He sighed dramatically. Like a man who had just witnessed the collapse of everything he believed in.

I stared at him.

He stared back. Then his eyes narrowed. "You know," he said slowly, "there's something deeply unfair about this." He gestured toward himself. "I'm Lust. The Lord of Lust. And you're Wrath." He pointed toward Puriel. "And somehow, you're the one getting spoiled by a goddess?"

I almost laughed. Bad decision. My throat immediately punished me. "GH—f*ck!"

Puriel grabbed my shoulder. "El! Stop laughing!"

I coughed, wheezed, and somehow managed to raise my middle finger toward Asmo. He looked personally offended.

Patience slowly turned toward him. "Asmo. Get out."

Asmo blinked. "You're kicking me out?"

"Yes."

He placed a hand against his chest, looking genuinely offended. "Sweetheart, that's not how this works."

I raised an eyebrow.

Asmo suddenly straightened, brushing imaginary dust from his perfectly tailored coat. His earlier jealousy vanished beneath the confident smile of a man who had spent centuries convincing women that falling in love with him was an excellent life decision. With a flick of his fingers, a crimson rose appeared. He slipped its stem between his lips. Then he approached Patience confidently. Like a peacock that had recently discovered expensive perfume.

“Rather than that…” He stopped before her, removed the rose from his mouth, and presented it with an elegant bow. "How about a date, sweetheart?"

Patience stared at him. "No."

Asmo froze.

I nearly choked trying to suppress my laughter. She hadn't even considered it.

Patience turned toward the altar. "And both of you, get dressed." Her eyes narrowed at me. "Immediately." Then she walked away.

The doors closed behind her.

I stared at the entrance. Then at Asmo. He was still standing in exactly the same position, one hand extended, the rose trembling slightly between his fingers. His smile remained. Unfortunately, his eyes had gone completely vacant.

I smirked. "I've never seen her that angry before."

Puriel sighed against my shoulder. "Please don't provoke her again."

"Are you kidding? I want to see more."

There was something deeply satisfying about watching the Virtue of Patience abandon her defining virtue. I could practically taste the Wrath in her aura. If only I could stand,  I'd have followed her into the corridor and continued teasing until she started throwing furniture. Unfortunately, my body remained useless.

I glanced at Asmo again. He hadn't moved.

Was he dead?

"Asmo?"

His fingers tightened around the rose.

I exchanged a glance with Puriel. She looked concerned. I looked delighted. We were very different people.

"Uh… you should probably go now."

Asmo slowly lowered his hand. He nodded. Once. Then turned toward the door. His shoulders slumped as he walked, the rose dangling pathetically between his fingers.

"I'm Lust…" he muttered. "Why am I losing to Wrath…? This isn't fair…" He reached the door. "This isn't fair…" Then he disappeared into the corridor like a man returning from the funeral of his own dignity.

The doors closed.

I stared after him for several seconds. Then buried my face against Puriel's shoulder. My body shook. I couldn't help it. A laugh escaped. Followed immediately by a pained groan.

"F*CK!"

Puriel caught my face between her hands. "Stop laughing! You're still injured!"

"I know!" I wheezed. "But did you see his face?"

She tried to look stern, but failed. A tiny giggle escaped her.

"See? You're laughing too!"

She shook her head, smiling despite herself. Her expression softened. Her thumbs gently brushed my cheeks, carefully avoiding the cracked skin around my lips. "Does it still hurt?"

I considered lying. Unfortunately, she knew me too well. "A little."

Her eyebrows rose.

"Fine. A lot." I expected another lecture about recklessness, self-sacrifice, and my apparent inability to behave like a responsible royal demon being. Instead, she leaned closer and kissed my forehead. She followed it with another kiss against my temple, then gently touched her forehead to mine.

I slipped my arms around her waist, careful not to disturb her damaged core. "You're getting awfully affectionate."

"Am I?"

"Very. I'm beginning to suspect you've developed an addiction to me.”

Her fingers slid into my hair. "Perhaps."

I blinked. That wasn't the answer I expected. Usually, she'd blush, scold me, or threaten to leave me alone with my inappropriate thoughts. Instead, she kissed the tip of my nose. Then one of my horns.

My smile widened. "Keep treating me like this, and I'll start expecting it every day."

"Then perhaps you should meet me every day."

I looked into her eyes and saw the worry she hadn't entirely managed to hide. "I hope one day we can live in the same realm," I murmured. "We could meet every day."

I didn't say anything more.

Neither did she.

We both knew how impossible that sounded. A devil couldn't live in the Light Realm, and an angel like her couldn't simply move into the Shadow Realm. Still, I wanted it. A future where loving her didn't require crossing realms.
