Seven Sins System Chapter 899. Cracked
Seven Sins System Chapter 899. Cracked
We reached another set of doors.
No guards stood directly in front of them.
Instead, two angelic soldiers stood ten meters to the left.
Two demons stood ten meters to the right.
Nobody could claim the entrance.
Patience placed her palm against the center.
The doors opened.
I walked inside.
And saw her.
Puriel.
Everything else disappeared.
The room was circular, smaller than I expected, illuminated by soft white flames floating near the walls. Black and gold inscriptions spiraled across the floor, converging beneath an altar at the center.
An actual altar.
Puriel lay on it.
White fabric covered her body from her chest downward, her hair spilling around her head like liquid moonlight. Her face looked peaceful.
Too peaceful.
Then there was me.
I glanced down at myself. Not exactly reassuring.
My tentacles were still spread behind me, their mouths lined with sharp teeth, several of them still dripping black demon blood from the idiot I had eaten less than an hour ago. My horns were out. My eyes were red. There was dried blood on my coat, and one tentacle casually licked the last dark stain from its teeth.
Mortals had stories about this kind of thing, didn’t they?
A beautiful princess sleeping peacefully while a handsome prince came to wake her. Usually the prince arrived on a white horse. Maybe carrying flowers. Looking heroic.
I had arrived through a dimensional portal with six carnivorous tentacles, blood on my clothes, and enough demonic aura to make an exorcist reconsider his career choices.
Close enough.
Except if anyone painted this scene, nobody would mistake me for the prince.
I was clearly the monster standing over the sleeping princess.
And somehow, hilariously, I was the one here to save her.
For one inappropriate second, the scene looked like someone had prepared an angelic sacrifice specifically for me.
Wrath standing over Chastity.
Devil and goddess.
Monster and princess.
Dark altar.
Ancient magic.
Someone with a very particular taste in forbidden romance would have enjoyed the imagery.
Normally, I probably would have too.
I didn’t.
Not today.
My eyes went directly to her chest. Beneath her skin, where her angelic core rested, faint golden light pulsed. And inside it…
Black.
Thin veins.
Barely visible.
Demonic poison.
My jaw tightened.
Patience stopped beside me. “Save her.”
I looked at her. “I will.”
She held my gaze.
For once, there was no hostility between Virtue and Sin. Just two people who cared whether the woman on that altar woke up again.
“We’ll check on you every fifteen minutes.”
“No.”
Patience frowned. “What?”
I walked toward Puriel. “One hour.”
“Wrath—”
I turned. “There’s no way I can heal this in less than an hour.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I do.”
My voice came colder than I intended.
Patience stopped.
I pointed toward Puriel’s chest.
“The poison isn’t sitting on the surface. It’s inside the fracture. If I pull too hard, I widen the crack. If I destroy it too aggressively, demonic energy detonates against holy energy inside her core.”
Patience’s expression changed. She understood.
“I need to enter the structure slowly, identify which channels the poison attached itself to, separate it, draw it into myself, and stabilize her core every time I remove a section.”
Her eyes moved to my chest. “And what happens to you?”
I smiled faintly. “Hopefully nothing interesting.”
“Wrath.”
“I survived it yesterday.”
She didn’t appreciate that. Nobody appreciated my optimism.
I stopped beside the altar.
Puriel looked even paler up close.
A strand of hair had fallen across her cheek.
I brushed it away with two fingers.
Her skin was warm.
My thumb lingered against her cheek for a moment.
“An hour,” I repeated.
Behind me, Patience remained silent.
Then…
“An hour.”
I nodded. “If I’m not out after that?”
“We enter.”
“Fair.”
She walked toward the doors.
Stopped.
Looked back.
There was warning in her eyes.
And trust.
An uncomfortable combination.
“She trusts you.”
I looked at Puriel. “I know.”
“Don’t make her regret it.”
My tentacles shifted.
I didn’t turn around. “Patience.”
“Yes?”
“If I wanted to hurt her, I wouldn’t have carried her into the Light Realm while I was dying.”
Silence.
Then the doors closed.
I was alone with Puriel.
For the first time since yesterday.
The quiet suddenly felt heavier.
I stood beside the altar, looking down at her.
The Goddess of Chastity.
My former enemy.
And apparently the woman capable of making the Lord of Wrath feel something dangerously close to fear.
“Tch.” I pulled the chair closer and sat beside her. “You’re troublesome.”
Then I looked at myself again.
I dismissed my tentacles one by one. The mouths disappeared first, followed by the eyes, until all six slipped back into my body and finally stopped making me look like the monster who had come to eat the beautiful angel on the altar.
I opened my coat and shrugged it off, tossing it over the chair. Unfortunately, that didn’t solve everything.
My hands were still stained with black blood.
I turned them over.
Demon blood clung beneath my nails and across my knuckles.
“Unavoidable.”
I had come here directly after eating someone. Puriel would definitely have comments about that when she woke up.
I sat on the edge of the altar beside her and looked down.
Up close, the problem was clearer.
Her angelic core rested beneath the center of her chest, glowing through her skin like a small golden sun. Normally, Puriel’s light felt warm.
Now thin black veins crawled through it.
My playful mood disappeared.
I raised one bloodstained hand above her chest without touching her.
“Observation.”
[Observation Activated]
The system flared.
[Target: Puriel]
[Angelic Core: CRACKED]
[Core Stability: 61%]
[Demonic Contamination: 8.7%]
[Foreign Demonic Toxin: Embedded]
[Warning: Forced Extraction May Cause Core Fracture Expansion]
[Warning: Conventional Holy Restoration Ineffective While Foreign Toxin Remains]
I stared at the final warning.
Nothing with this woman could ever be easy.
I exhaled through my nose and rolled my shoulders. “Let’s get this done.”
