Click of death on NAS drive. ðŸ˜
Go figure, in the worst possible economy for HDDs, one of my 20+TB drives has decided that it wants to catch the click of death. Fun times. $800 for a drive I paid $300 for a year ago is painful lol

Here's to hoping that you can retrieve any and all important files from the drive before it becomes totally inaccessible like my recent 2TB System drive did in my regular desktop PC. Bad enough that even changing out the control and connector card on the drive to one off a brand new 2TB did not give me access to the files on it.. When it rains it pours.. Talk about Miss-Fortune? Poke and giggle to try to cheer you up just a pinch...
I feel you. I just bought up a bunch of 4TB SSD drives for my "New Build" PC over the past year and a half at almost $300 per drive. Bought enough to convert a second PC over from motor to SSD. Went to pickup a couple more a few weeks ago and they where running over $540!!! The price of a Samsung 8TB SSD last year!!! Even motor drives have gone up. Not so much but still enough to choke new drive sales for average folks like me.
damn is that how much 4tb ssds are now? I have 3 of them in my gaming pc alone, I bought them on sale on amazon at 200 a pop
do you mind sharing what model was that? I also do have 20TB drive with important data, started thinking about my life without it duh…
IronWolf Pro, not sure if it's one of the 24TBs or 20TBs though.
Some utilities can try to resurrect the drive... they never work, but I'd still give it a try
F me ... I didn't even know what that is ... damn that hurts just reading about it. Good luck and all with the replacement and the future of course
Oof, don't be afraid to use ebay, maybe get a better price. I've grabbed my last few drives for my Plex server off of ebay (via reputable sellers, of course).
Seems like they're pricier than some of the new ones I'm seeing. As mentioned in another response,I forgot about the warranty. Will give that try before I do anything else.
Ouch. Been needing to buy a new HDD too but yeah the prices are getting insane.
I forgot about the warranty when posting this. They're just over a year old, so it should fall under warranty. Forget if it's 3 or 5 years, but should fall into it regardless. I'm hoping Seagate still has some drives in stock...
