Last few months have been kind of brutal, hits just kinda keep coming.
I took some time off a while ago to deal with some personal stuff. As I've said, it's mostly dealt with, but it doesn't mean it isn't still there.
The dog I've had since I was like 13 started having breathing issues a week or so ago. It got progressively worse though the week. Basically starts hyperventilating until he hacks like he's going to throw up. He could barely get down the stairs on his own without being out of breath.
Took him to the vet tonight and was told basically what I was expecting. Congestive heart failure. Rapid heart beat, missed pulses, crackling in lungs (meaning fluids).
It's basically $3000 (tests, meds, with a high possibility of it not working at all) to delay an inevitability or euthanasia. Just don't think it's fair to let him suffer despite wanting him around. I mean, I knew it getting closer, but it's fucking me up way harder than I expected it to.
Just saying, if I'm a little distant or quiet online for a while, that's probably why. Will probably just bury myself in renders (and alcohol) for a bit. Just wanted to put that out there as I know this update is taking a really long time, but it's not for lack of trying.

Take care of yourself first that is what matters. Thanks for the communication. Take your time knowing we’ll still be here waiting for you.
I'm so sorry to hear this. I've had to put down two girls, many years ago, two years apart exactly. They steal a piece of your heart and you deserve time to mourn as you would any member of your family. My ex-wife used to accuse me of loving them more than her and she was probably right. :) Be well, it's good to talk to people.
Life happens
I hear you mean, my cat going broadly through something similiar. He was around for all the time In this apartment and whenever I felt alone he was there. Yesterday something happened and it looks very grim. I feel you. Understandable. You can also always reach out, it's often horrend if we have to deal alone with things and can't even talk. All the best.
Sad to hear
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope everything gets better for you. :)
Really sorry to hear that, mate. I know how awful it is to lose a dog
So Sorry to here this Tragic news we lost our 13 year old pup in April......its never easy :(
My family had to put down our dog a few years ago, and he was around my whole childhood. I know how awful it can be. You made the right call though, as much as it hurts. If they’re in constant pain, it’s better for them to let go rather than have us force them to stick around for our benefit. My heart goes out to you for having to deal with that.
I know what you are going through now. I had the same with my dog. Never easy to make a decision like that. They are part of the family after all. My thoughts are with you!
Awful news, sorry you are going through it. Hope that meds do work (as slim of a chance as it is). Take your time and process how you can/need to.
Sorry to hear this - I understand, though. We lost two of ours (they were 17 and 15 respectively) this year and even though it's been like 7 months since we lost the first one and 4 months since we lost the 2nd, I still cry several times a week, usually at night as that's just a tougher part of the day for some reason. They're family members that are really close to you so don't be afraid to vent those emotions as needed. Just appreciate the memories you have and had with them. And remember it's never easy when you are essentially the guardian of another living thing and have to make impossible medical decisions on their behalf. Hang in there and best wishes.
