Vampyr - Part 1
Hey everyone, Starting a new project with this epic Vampire sculpt. I'm really enjoying this one, I hope that comes across in the painting and the video! Check out the artists I worked with here: https://www.instagram.com/hugo_gomez_briones https://www.instagram.com/thomas.elliott.art Andy

Andy, it’s crazy good. The complexity of the tones is just incredible. Love the non scratchy look, is so elegant and would say perfect for a "dandy" vampire. The face is much younger and refined in the sculpt, compared to the concept/artwork, and suits the smooth armor perfectly. Hope to meet you in Monte, would really like to chat about your art
Thats such a beautiful model and the colour choice looks incredible
Shaping up really beautifully mate! Lovely scheme to begin with but you’ve really nailed those reflections and hue shifts. Can’t wait to see it finished!
I mean.. this is basically Fulgrim right? 😅 Can’t wait to watch, Godspeed Andy!
This is looking insanely cool Andy - love the art, love the model, love the colour and light choices you're making - and really looking forward to seeing how it develops. I find these videos that go deeply into your process to be super helpful and informative. Two questions: (1) do you have any tips for reducing the effects of 'target fixation'? (When I paint a larger scale mini like this, I might work on it for a couple of hours and be pleased with the result, then come back the next day and realise that I was so honed in on aspects of it that I didn't realise that I had not created even levels of contrast, or I had missed value variations in the deep shadows, or something). (2) How would you go about approaching a more multi-tonal scheme on a large space like this (for instance, if it was skin and you wanted to included greens and purples alongside the standard skin tones)? Cheers!
Love the model, looking forward to paint it myself if you can make it available for us!
I love this piece and I think yiur smashing it mate
That armour burgundy is amazing!
