Hi all,

I've done a video all about how i'd approach painting an Ork army/collection for 40k.

Hope you enjoy!

Great video. I've fairly recently got my Guard army up to a bit over 2000 pts which has taken me 6 years of chipping away at it. Only about half has seen the gaming table as I dont get much time to play but I'm pleased I've got them and can now add a unit every so often if I fancy it. I'd love to do Orks but the combination of the detail and numbers is putting me off but seeing this has tempted me again...

A big sprawling guard/renegade guard project is very tempting. They always look so good on the shelf and table.

This is proper Orky Henry; great work! I especially enjoyed the bit where you just turned the power klaw arm upside down and dared anyone to criticise you for it - a little bit of comedy genius 😂. One question: what did you do for the base (which I may steal, along with your leather jacket sponging idea)? Yes please to the Trukk video too 🤓. Cheers!

It works remarkably well doesn't it! The base is identical method to what I did in the Salamanders captain video. I just went a little heavier on the pigment wash.

Big fan of the Josh Adams reference

These long form videos are just great. They feel like little hobby project diaries and they absolutely get me motivated to sit down and hobby. Now the paint job is a 10 out of 10 for me. I think over the last couple of years or so you have really elevated your more grounded style to a new level.

Thanks bud, I must sit down and really make a concerted effort to figure out a direction idnlike to go on, and focus.

Re: ork nipples. I believe we can just agree that they're tiddy squigs, so if they have fewer or more than normal, it's because of how many tiddy squigs they've rounded up to attach.

Excellent TED talk.

I’m an ork fan so probably biased, but that’s a lovely couple of orks! And it was great seeing George Dellapina’s Speed Freeks from white dwarf too - it was that army and Guy Haley’s Speed Freeks army that made me choose them for my own project, and it’s still the biggest army I’ve ever done!

Such a cool army isn't it!

Amazing thank you so much! Thoroughly good watch! Especially as I am preparing to paint the Armageddon Orks....

This video comes exactly at the right time. Thank you, Henry! I'm currently so burned out and stressed because I feel like everyone is just painting so fast and speedpainting is everywhere and at the other end of the spectrum you have all the people only painting one single model to a ultra high standard and I'm normally somewhere in between. As you said, why would I rush models I like and paid for. And I want to enjoy the result, but also not at the price of enjoyment while doing it. I'm also not sure what game to play at the moment. And it all got me so confused that I stopped doing any hobby last week. And I normally do something every day. Anyway. A lot of what you said really resonated with me and I hope I can find my way back to just collecting an army because I love it and taking my time with it and not constantly feel bad about either the speed or the quality. Cheers!
