Upcoming Paint Release
Hi all,
I hope you've been having a good hobby month. For those of you out at SMC or feverishly finishing pieces for Spiel Good Luck!
Apologies for no video from me last week, a combo of the lurgy plus finishing off our Deorgard KS fulfilment has eaten into time. So has the fact that we are prepping to launch the Mini Colour paint range next week finally!!
To that end, we're putting together a preemptive FAQ. If any of you have any questions about them, please add to the comments here and I can update the document. No such thing as a stupid question either.
EDIT - I'LL PROBABLY ANSWER QUITE A FEW OF YOU DIRECTLY IN THE COMMENTS AS I CHECK BACK, BUT IF YOU DON'T GET A RESPONSE FROM ME THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WON'T BE ADDRESSED IN THE FAQ.
I'll see you this upcoming week a few times, with a stream tomorrow with Matt ( and hopefully Andy) on Twitch, which I'll upload to Culture of Paint YT channel afterwards, and then a scenery video on YT about the old school fantasy board i've done.
Plus no doubt we'll be chatting about the paints lots. It's been a project many years in the making, and I'm really looking forward to working with AO on it going forwards.
Andy has a few videos lined up for you about his GD elf project. It looks fantastic!

Exited for this, just as long as it's smooth and the colours are good an extra coat here or there is no great shakes. Just as long as it's nothing like scale 75 Tesla blue. I hate that paint.

Does the set contain necessary paints for nmm gold, copper, etc?
You could have a good go. But we will also be doing NMM sets as some of the first sets after launch.
When will we get to see the whole range? Really excited for this. Thank you for all the hard work that went into this.

Hi Henry, I had the opportunity to try the paints at MPO and thought they seemed great! Might be too early to say but what's the rough expectations for delivery date on Kickstarter orders?

What are yours and Andys top 3 or 6 colours from this range? And will there be colour matches to other ranges most popular colours ie Rhinox hide etc? Pumped for them!
We'll deffo talk about our faves. With regards to colour matches, in some cases there are, although not identical, but there's also lots that we've made because we dont think they are done well elsewhere.
Will there be any single pigment colors, apart from white and black?
No, some are close though, but it was never an aim. We've made the colours we want at the best vibrancy we can get We'll make sure theres some technical spec stuff for those of you interested in that.

Hi Henry! Hope you’ll feel better soon! I was wondering how big the bottles are in comparison to other brands / how much paint there is per bottle? In the pictures the bottles look like they are either on the smaller side or the lids are really big.
We'll list exact amount on the tech sheets, but it's at least 18ml (the lids are chunky)
What size are the bottles in ml? Excited for these after hearing so much about them!

Hi Henry, hope you're feeling loads better now. Great news that the release date is finally here. I have a few questions: what kind of finish will the paints have (are we talking more Scalecolour or more Citadel)? Will the paints airbrush well and will they be water based or solvent based? Also, will you be releasing the Seth bust again to coincide with the paint launch? Cheers!
Thanks Rob, whatever this bug is is grim. Finish is Matt into Satin. PAints airbrush and brushg equally well ( a big challenge and focus!), water based. Yes Seth will be coming back. Probably in the New Year. I think we'll do Goblin orders during MPO online.

Yes the KS will be for the full set. Founder Edition.
Very exciting! I‘m interested to know how their finish is compared to AK and Vallejo since these are the paints I use most regularly and I don‘t usually varnish my models.

I would love to better understand what is perceived as the goal of the range or what separates it from others. Is there a total # of different colors that you want to release before the range is considered complete?
We want it to be user-friendly paint, with a focus on colour. Rather than chasing specific things like coverage, or particularly extreme finishes.
Is there a timeframe yet for wider distribution? I know it was mentioned that this will be an in store staple, similar to AO brushes I guess but do you have any expectations about when we can hope to see it in the wider world.

One thing in curious about with the paint range. Availability. Do you guys know know if it will be easily available in Norway. Around almost any hobby shop ive been to u can only really get vallejo Citadel and ap. Not bad but variety is nice😁 been waiting for these for a long time!🤘
Don't know about Norway specifically, but with AO and Element being the same owners they have a lot of experience in retail and distro. The intention is for this to be in stores worldwide.

Yes. The KS will be for the full set. Later retail will be 6 paint sets (for majority) and individuals.
I had a great time messing about with the paints at MPO, and have been looking forward to getting my hands on the rest ever since!
