Sea Guard Test

The concept we have for this unit is an officer inspecting the troops. Therefore, we created a soldier standing at attention. However, I believe this pose seems too stiff, and the variations we can make are quite limited.

Thus, we are considering creating soldiers in slightly more relaxed poses to increase variety.

The spear will also undergo some modifications, although we will retain the trident as a distinctive symbol of the unit.

Hi, really great stuff. The seaguard are just cool! What software do you use to sculpt? Your stuff is always so detailed

Not a fan of the trident. Please consider spears as alternativ

Sorry, but the trident blows. Rest of it is cool as.

Alternatively, if you go with the 'troop inspection' concept, perhaps some of the elves could be pretending to brace for a charge or attack to demonstrate their preparedness and ability

Regarding the poses, I would prefer more action poses - either marching or in combat, or perhaps bracing for a charge. The other imperial kindred (dragon) spearmen are already in relaxed and stationary poses. While having similar poses here would match that kit, it would be good to have different poses or this different spearmen unit for variety to that range

Would we be able to swap out the spear with other weapons from other kits?

Nice mini!! Maybe different feet pose would make a freat variation in stiff poses, plus some slightly relaxed for the rear lines would be great; in table the sea guard will feel like more "trained and ready" unit compared with regular units, as if they're used to be always ready at any enemy's sight. For the shoulders I would like a design likely to the hips/thigh armour, a "fishy" or dragon pattern. After all, helmets + shoulder pads + long shield would protect from almost any attack from distance.

For the trident/spear design, maybe some hybrid? The central blade could be larger so it could be used as a spear but also remember a trident.

Like these, if the commander is quite animated it kinda looks like the elves coolly listening to his lil speech. 😀 maybe a couple of more active looking guys for the front rank too would be good.

I like the trident but would also like a spear alternative. I think it wouldn't be too difficult to do both (but I guess I could use another spear arm from your range although the armour would be different). Overall it looks great up to the usual high standards.

With a stiff pose like this combined with different heads. It so much easier to make a diverse unit and clone feeling is less as all have the same stiff pose, while duplicating a more relaxed pose would look more like clones faster.

Looks great. Slightly relaxed doesn't sound too bad. Some subtle variations like with helmet on the belt or in hand would also be very nice. :)

If there are enough head variants I don't mind this pose at all as it would work nicely for 3th and 4th rank.

Noooo not a trident :( I quite like the stiff look, but then I never minded monopose stuff for rank and file it looked regimented as it should. But understand some variation is required…but tridents noooo I’ll have to wait till next months release
