Imperial Kindred Sea Guard

Hello guys,

We're launching the first product of the year: the Imperial Guard of our Imperial Kindred. As you will see, we've decided to retain all the classic traits of the line, but we've incorporated some elements reminiscent of the generic sea guard. The idea is to maintain coherence with both references so they can be used in any of the armies.

In this case, we've opted for long padding to make them slightly lighter than the phalanx.

However, I have a doubt: should we keep the current size of the shields, or use smaller ones like those in the Macedonian phalanxes?

What do you think?

Keep the big shield, and the shape to be honest looks nice, the hard edges look slightly menacing which I think looks good on Sea-themes high elves who should be a bit more tempestuous.

Actually, thinking on this the regular Sea guard already have a nice big shield for this type of unit, I do think the small-shield and spear is something I would like to see done by you guys, as the range lacks it for the moment.

smooth helmets would be preferable but other than that, look great

Big shield, but slightly smaller. Never rounded.

Would this unit have options to equip with swords?

Big shield. Also, any chance of a dragon mage?

I'm curious to see what the small sheilds would look like - could you show us a sample perhaps? This way we could comment based on seeing it. I would like small and large shields as variety is always nice. Also, would you consider versions without bows of quivers attached so they could be used as generic dragon light infantry?

I like the big shields & it is consistent with shield wall depicted in certain army books. If you do later land force (not see/ship soldiers) then I would suggest long pikes in greek phalanx style, to reflect 3-row deep engagement :)

We have some tests of longer spears, but between the fragility and the completeness of the transport, they have made us abandon that way. I would love them but I don't think they are practical.

Large shields are the way to go I think. However a bit smaller than the ones shown? More like 11th century kite shield.

Entonces es una variante complementaria de la anterior Guardia del Mar no?

L
Last Sword Miniatures · January 7, 2024

es una variante temática. Pero al intención es que mantengan líneas comunes si quieres usar las dos versiones a la vez.

Bigger shield looks better. Fire Amphora hopefully comes in a way which allows pieces for scatter terrain or unit fillers? :)

What is the significance of the designation “sea guard”.

L
Last Sword Miniatures · January 6, 2024

You can consider it as embarked infantry.

Small shield

What about an Option to choose between big or small shields for print. I prefer the small macedonian shields becaus such shields does not exist

L

The size of the shield really dictates the poses we can use in sculpting. It's a significant decision for us; it's not just a matter of adding or removing a piece but rather how it influences the entire sculpting process.

The shield in the pic is perfect. Certainly not smaller. What is planned for Imperial Kindred?

L
Last Sword Miniatures · January 6, 2024

Sea Guard, a fire amphorae launcher for a Kings of War proxy, and an Archmage on a dragon.

Kacper Szczytowski · January 6, 2024

Smaller. But arent you copying the seaguard you already did? I do not see the point of this. Someone explain it to me please?

L
Last Sword Miniatures · January 6, 2024

https://lastsword.com/product/miniatures-elves-highelves-seaguard-unit/ This is our generic sea guard, and we've taken some elements from it to make the elven fashion self-referential. Our entire range is very interrelated. But in this case, we specifically sought to cross-reference.

My vote goes for big shields!
