October 2026: The March of the Elven Dead, Roman Palatines and the Solar Legion
Welcome to October 2026. This month brings together three distinct battlefronts across our miniatures ranges: Late Roman commanders and elite guard gathering around the tactical planning table, the foundational muster of our undead elven host alongside a grim wandering mercenary, and specialized heavy support and shock escorts reinforcing the Solar Legion.
Across these releases, our focus is on establishing long-awaited army foundations, exploring narrative character collaborations, and providing versatile command and troop options that immediately stand out on the tabletop.
The Adventurer: Late Roman Command, Frontier Ranks, and Village Scenery
October's historical selection centres on the high command of the Late Roman army, their elite palatine retinue, specialized missile support for the frontier, and an authentic rural village structure.
Magister Militum Command Group

At the heart of October's historical release stands the planning table, draped with campaign scrolls and an imperial helmet, around which the high command gathers. This command group brings together four figures in total, including the standard bearer standing in attendance. Conceived as a narrative centrepiece as much as a functional command base, this planning scene provides the focus around which October's Palatine Guard unit forms.
On the gaming table, the commanding figure can represent either a Magister Militum or a young emperor. Whichever leader you place at the table, this scene anchors the entire Roman contingent.
Palatine Guard / Palatine Infantry at Rest

Forming directly around the planning table from the Magister Militum Command Group, the Palatine Guard steps into the spotlight this month. The photographed Palatine Infantry at Rest belong to this Palatine Guard unit, captured at ease around the command group.
To make this elite unit stand apart from lower-ranking Romans on the tabletop, our sculptors selected our most complex armour designs and added capes. In the finished figures, these guardsmen carry spears and round shields, ready to form around their command group.
Limitanei Arcubalist & Fustibalus

For our frontier infantry, this release introduces specialized missile support with four crossbow (arcubalist) poses and four staff-sling (fustibalus) poses. We chose this combined arrangement to cover both troop and equipment types without spending too long developing two extensive new sets. While many tabletop rulesets simplify these arms into standard archers or slingers, we wanted figures that faithfully represent their historical equipment on the table.
These miniatures are fully compatible with all previous Last Sword Limitanei releases. This design choice allows you to use extra bodies and heads from earlier sets to assemble large units, providing broad variety across your ranks without requiring an overwhelming selection of newly sculpted parts.
Late Roman Granary

Completing The Adventurer for October is our dedicated scenery release: the Late Roman Granary. Conceived as a rural village structure, the building features a tiled roof, shuttered openings, wall surfaces showing exposed brickwork, and an upper storage storey raised above an open space supported by columns. It provides an authentic piece of period architecture to anchor supply depots, rural settlements, and tabletop objectives.

The Bannerman: Undead Elven Host and Dramatis Personae
The Bannerman marks a major milestone this month. Alongside an evocative narrative collaboration in Dramatis Personae, October formally establishes the army base for our undead elven range, bringing together characters, core infantry, heavy chariots, and the tragic lord bound to lead them.
Dramatis Personae: The Leper

Dramatis Personae, our collection of individual miniatures designed for roleplaying and narrative games, introduces The Leper, created in direct collaboration with illustrator Mull. This figure offers a glimpse into LAMENT, Mull's dark medieval-Renaissance setting ravaged by perpetual war, plague, famine, and an undead curse.
Once an accomplished mercenary from the Imperial Duchy of Soderlingen, the onset of leprosy left him feared by strangers and abandoned by friends to wander the lonely roads. When authorities required him to sound the leper's clapper to warn the healthy away, he turned this instrument of exclusion into a focus and catalyst for heretical Rot magic. As the disease gradually weakened his sword arm, he abandoned prayer and turned to forbidden arts simply to sustain his strength.
You can view Mull's original illustration alongside the finished sculpt in our earlier preview gallery. You can read the original character lore in The Leper biography on Oddegar, and discover more of his work on Mull's Instagram.
Yeberon The King Slayer on Horse

In life, Yeberon was an elven prince, a member of the Council of the Eternals, and a personal friend of the emperor. When part of his noble lineage embraced the Vampiric Heresy, he secured imperial leave to hunt down the traitors to the far reaches of the Empire of Eternal Day. He set out in pursuit, only to fall in an isolated skirmish far from home and reinforcements. His body never returned, and his dishonoured house never claimed him.
It was his sister Arasne who raised him from the dead. The prince who once rode out to hunt vampires of his own bloodline now rides bound to the Ordo Draconis, obeying the will of the sister who brought him back.
Our undead elven line takes the Undying Dynasties list of The 9th Age as its gaming reference. Furthermore, their deliberately zombified appearance has been chosen so these models also fit naturally as zombie hordes within traditional vampire armies.
Yeberon on Foot

We are also bringing back Yeberon on Foot. This sculpt originally released in the earliest days of our Patreon, meaning most of our current patrons likely do not have him in their collections. Returning as official October content, he shares a release cover with our returning spearmen and offers a dismounted command option for the fallen prince.
Elven Undead Warrior Character

The Elven Undead Warrior Character is designed with practical modularity in mind, usable either on foot or mounted directly upon our new elven undead chariots. His deliberately zombified appearance matches the rest of the host, fitting into both The 9th Age Undying Dynasties army list and traditional vampire-led armies.
Elven Undead Hierarch

Accompanying the military leadership is the Elven Undead Hierarch. Like the Warrior Character, this miniature is designed for dual battlefield roles, usable either on foot or mounted upon the chariots. Sharing a single release cover with the Warrior, the Hierarch provides the undead host with a distinctive commanding presence.
Undead Elf Spearmen

Returning alongside Yeberon on Foot are the Undead Elf Spearmen. First released in the earliest days of the Patreon, these miniatures return to help patrons establish the infantry foundation of their undead elven force. Their deliberately zombified appearance ensures they blend naturally with our new October additions on both The 9th Age and vampire gaming tables.
Undead Elven Temple Guard

We are developing our undead elven armies using The 9th Age's Undying Dynasties army list as our reference. We are interpreting that army through our own elves, who will play a major part in our future ruleset, allowing that army list to guide the range while our elven forces and history give it a distinct identity.
These warriors are the remains of elven armies sent in pursuit of vampires who had gone into exile; those pursuing forces were defeated, and they ended up forming armies of the undead. Within our Undying Dynasties reference, the Undead Elven Temple Guard corresponds to the Necropolis Guard: centuries-old fighters marching forward with the sole mission of defending their lord. Their zombified appearance also enables them to serve as zombie cohorts in more traditional vampire-led armies.
Elven Undead Chariots

Rounding out the undead army base is a complete Elven Undead Chariot unit. The kit offers supporters the choice to assemble the models with either spears or bows. Both the Warrior Character and the Hierarch are designed to mount onto these chariots, creating a striking centrepiece for your battleline.

The Crusader: Solar Legion Heavy Support and Escort
Humanity survives along a moving Perimeter, guided by Heliarchs and sustained by House fleets. Behind them stretches the Estela Negra: exhausted suns, frozen planets, and silent ruins where populations can no longer remain. While Solar Legions win hard battles, forced withdrawal still costs humanity irreplaceable worlds. As worlds are lost, preserving accumulated knowledge becomes essential to survival.
Space Legions Custodian

Within the Space Legions range, the Custodian preserves accumulated knowledge to use it in battle. As worlds are lost behind the Perimeter, preserving this hard-won knowledge becomes essential to humanity's ongoing survival.
Solar Legion Devastator Squad

Within the Space Legions range, the Devastator Squad provides heavy covering fire to support tactical and assault troops. Different types of missiles appear mounted on the warriors' backpacks to provide versatile fire support.
Solar Legion Honor Guard

The Crusader's Honor Guard acts as a shock unit escorting senior Solar Legion officers, equipped with tower shields and energy weapons.

The Squire: October Sample Selection

The Squire tier features a curated selection of three sample miniatures shown on this month's official Squire release cover.
This tier offers a focused entry point for painters, skirmishers, and hobbyists looking to sample October's releases across our ranges.
The Sovereign: The Combined October Collection

The Sovereign tier combines all three of our main October ranges: The Adventurer, The Bannerman, and The Crusader, along with our Late Roman Granary scenery. It provides the full collection of this month's historical commanders, undead elven regiments, characters, and Space Legions reinforcements in a single tier.
October brings an exciting convergence of historical tactical depth, dark fantasy narrative origins, and heavy sci-fi support. We would love to hear your thoughts on this month's direction!
When setting up your Roman command table, who will you place in command: the Magister Militum or the young emperor? And which units from The 9th Age Undying Dynasties list are you most eager to see interpreted next through our elven dead? Thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support!
