The Bannerman: Introducing Dramatis Personae — Neidhart

Hey everyone!

Alongside the dwarfs we’re working on for this month’s regular release, we’re very happy to share the beginning of something new for The Bannerman.

Dramatis Personae will be a recurring series of individual miniatures created with roleplaying and narrative games in mind. Characters who can become heroes, companions, rivals or memorable encounters around the table—not only another soldier in a larger battle.

And we have the pleasure of inaugurating the series with Neidhart, an original character created by illustrator Frida Bergholtz (Instagram: @fridabergholtz).

Leonetta becomes Neidhart

Frida has kindly given us permission to bring Neidhart into miniature form, and we’ve chosen to begin with the earliest version of the character: the figure on the left of her original illustration.

At this point in her story, Neidhart’s real name was still Leonetta. She decided, however, that she needed a name that sounded rather more impressive—and so Neidhart was born.

It is a small detail, but one that already says a great deal about the character she wants to become.

What makes this collaboration particularly exciting for us is the opportunity to recreate Neidhart herself. We want the miniature to feel unmistakably like Frida’s character, preserving as much as possible of her original design, personality and story.

The first sculpt

What you can see here is the very first stage of the sculpt. Neidhart is currently in a neutral working pose so that we can continue developing the model; this is not her final pose.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but her clothing, silhouette and the essential details of Frida’s first design are already beginning to take shape.

This is only the start of Neidhart’s journey—and of Dramatis Personae.

What do you think of Neidhart so far? And what do you think of the idea behind this new series for The Bannerman?
