JANUARY 2026: PROUD OF THE LION & BLOOD AND SAND

Happy 2026! I hope you had an amazing holiday season and that your year is starting with great energy, new projects, and plenty of hobby time. It is a true pleasure to open the calendar with our most ambitious collection yet, merging High Elven nobility with the raw historical grit of the arena.

Here is the complete presentation for our January collection:

🔱 PROUD OF THE LION: THE HONOR OF TOR RUFANE

"In the Prince's veins flows imperial blood, but his honor is forged in the mud of the battlefield. There is no throne higher than that which is defended shield-to-shield."

In the High Kingdom, the way a lord goes to war defines his lineage. While princes from other regions might prefer the safety of the skies on the backs of dragons or the speed of a steed, the lords of Tor Rufane consider it a supreme honor to fight on foot, leading from the front lines alongside their elite infantry.

  • Vaelion Itharel: The bastard son of the Emperor and a pivotal figure for the High Elves, whose leadership is felt whether charging on his noble steed or fighting shield-to-shield with his warriors.

  • Tor Rufane Lion Guard (Full Unit): The most veteran warriors of the region, armed with massive two-handed axes and draped in white lion pelts.

  • Tor Rufane Woodsmen: Expert skirmishers specialized in border protection and ambush tactics.

  • Tor Rufane Wild Lions: A full unit with dynamic poses capturing the ferocity of the pride; these new models replace the previous ones to provide a true presence in your armies.

  • Sea Dragon: The majestic serpentine creature that guards the fleets and coasts of Aelion.

  • Elven Supply Wagon: A highly detailed support piece, essential for the logistics of your campaigns.

  • Lion Statue: A classic monument designed to flank the gates of cities or elven temples.

Proud of the Lion Tier: Available this month for 10€ (+VAT).

⚔️ BLOOD AND SAND: JUGULA GLADIATORS

"Do you hear that? It’s not the wind. It’s the cry of a thousand throats demanding a hero or an execution. Today, the arena doesn’t belong to the warriors; it belongs to them."

We are completing the definitive tactical catalog for Jugula, offering all the necessary options with absolute historical rigor.

The Faces of the Arena:

  • Gallus 1: The foundation of the ludus. Equipped with the large oval scutum and robust helmet, this heavy gladiator is designed to absorb the most violent impacts.

  • Gallus 2 (Champion): A veteran champion. With his ornamental helmet and defiant stance, he leads by example under the desert sun of the colosseum.

  • Thraex 2: A technical duelist using his curved sword (sica) to strike around an opponent's guard.

  • Hoplomachus: The perfect balance between reach and defense, inspired by the traditions of the Greek hoplites.

  • Provocator 2: The armored professional; the only fighter who regularly wore a breastplate (cardiophylax) for high-endurance duels.

  • Secutor 2: The relentless pursuer, whose smooth, rounded helmet is an engineering masterpiece designed to avoid the net of a Retiarius.

  • Crupellarius: An iron-clad colossus. Encased in nearly impenetrable plate armor, he advances unfazed by any blow.

  • Andabatae: The blind sacrifice. Fighting without vision under a sealed helmet, he represents the cruelest and most spectacular side of the arena.

  • Laquerius: The lasso master. A tactical fighter capable of entangling and downing the most powerful rivals before delivering the final blow.

  • Samnite: The strength of conquered peoples. An archaic and formidable style carrying the traditional equipment of Rome's early enemies.

  • Venator: The beast specialist, relying entirely on his spear and agility as he lacks heavy armor.

  • Sagittarius: Ranged support, a rarity in the arena that forces a complete change in combat strategy.

The Clamor of the Crowds:

  • Enthusiastic Spectators: We are fulfilling our promise from last year by bringing life to your stands with this set that we will continue to expand.

  • Special Gift: To celebrate the new year, next month we will gift the Colosseum again so everyone has a proper stage for their gladiators.

Blood and Sand Tier: Available this month for 8€ (+VAT).

Loving the files. One slight issue - I'm not certain, but I think the elven Woodsmen 6 has possibly been supplied with the wrong body? It's identical to Woodsman 4 and the arms don't match the pose (they're firing right to left, but the body is facing right.) There's a body in the renders but not the files that looks correct (on one foot, looking left with a drawn bow that matches 6's arms?)

really love the realistic gladiator stuff, i know its likely too late and a bit cheeky to ask but incase you dont come around to more gladiator stuff in the future a "referee" model could be a cool way to cap off the set now that youre doing crowds as well (tbh some roman elite seated for the pulvinus would be pretty cool too so maybe you could do that sometime in the future too?).

Thanks a lot! 😊 And no worries at all — this is actually our second gladiator release, after the one we did last year. Our idea for next year is to do a full set of Arena Champions, much more ornamented and iconic in style. Also, I’m not sure how it happened, but we completely forgot about Veles, so at the very least we’ll be doing another gladiator release next year. And yes — the arbiter/referee is definitely one of the options we’ve been considering too.

Will the Gladiator Arena be FDM friendly? Not easy to print it at the moment

L
Last Sword Miniatures · January 21, 2026

Hi Iain! 😊 The Gladiator Arena was designed entirely with resin printing in mind, so yes — at the moment it’s definitely more resin-focused than FDM. To be honest, with terrain (since it’s not our main product line) we’ve been a bit more erratic than we should’ve: first we did FDM for the obvious reasons, then we tried a hybrid approach, and in the end we committed fully to resin. That said, with the new generation of printers (and the new Bambu machines making FDM so much easier), we’ve started doubting again. It’s possible that next year we revisit the arena and tweak the blocks to be more FDM-friendly, but even as it is, it shouldn’t be too hard to print with supports.
