Ted Lasso 4x05 Edited & Full
So hot off the press that there's no thumbnail yet 馃ぃ I put out a thought to upload the full episodes before the edited episodes, as it doesn't take me that long to get the full episode ready (and they have to be done anyway!). So I thought I'd try that with the rest of the Ted Lasso season and see if anyone finds it handy.
I don't want the posts to be too messy, so when I upload the link to the edited Ted episode that corresponds with the full one, I may turn off comments on that one and once it's up on YouTube, I will delete the post. Just so it's not all doubled up!
If this works for you, then I could do the same with the other shows we watch too!
Anyway - this episode had a different vibe to the last one, that's for sure. And I'm sad that we are halfway through this season!! NOOOO!
Hope you are all doing well 馃挏

Hi Juliette! The link for the yt edit says the video is private
There's definitely a lot to talk about with this one, especially as there seems to be a theme of messy relationships. Keeley really should have known that her date challenge to Roy might have ended up like this, and I hope it's the bartender as that would make more sense based on what we've seen so far. It's interesting that Rebecca's Dutchman (I know he has a name but I keep thinking of him as that) has been a bit more of a recurring character this time even it that's meant seeing a bit of drama there, and as for Jane's play I'm not sure why it's so popular as it comes across as narcissistic and deranged. It's always fun to see an actor who is good at playing drunk. Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones is a great example as well as the late Paul Eddington on Yes Minister and it was fun seeing drunk Rebecca. As it happens Chelsea women's star player until this summer (which would have included when this was filmed) was Australian, Sam Kerr.
Jane's play is deranged!! I still can't fathom how Beard didn't know it was fake. Unless he did and he was embarrassed that he got fooled, too embarrassed to tell anyone. I really hope ee never see her again. Beard is too good for her 馃が
Thanks for the early upload Juliette 馃挏 Very much appreciated! Fun fact, Rebecca's drunken halftime speech is based on a real life event. A lady called Delia Smith, who was the majority shareholder of Norwich at the time, gave what sounded like an alcohol fuelled halftime speech where she tried to spur some life into the crowd & players. They were 2-0 up but had floundered and the score was tied 2-2 at the half (she denies being drunk but it certainly sounded like she was). Here's a link if you want to see how similar Rebecca's speech was: https://youtu.be/NiC679ASOyA?is=FJW5ruUnQ-m8LV80 (That video is years old now but if you sort the comments by newest they all mention Ted Lasso!)
No worries, Mr Neil 馃挏馃 It actually works out well! I'm going to juggle the schedule around a little bit so youtube is more closer to the episode release date which hopefully might put my videos up the list a bit 馃槄 And I get to watch a new ted tomorrow!! OMG that speech!! I HAD NO IDEA 馃ぃ it looks like Delia was a little bit more playful as she smiled there at the end. I think she was drunk as well HAHAHA Thank you for that, Neil! That's made my day, that!
In the first episode, Ted raves about that binder full of information about all of the players that Alice put together, but he notes that Boots' nickname isn't included, and there's no biographical information included, no backstories for any of the players. Alice is so guarded about any personal information about herself, but she is clearly feeling a lot of emotional pain. It's interesting that the way Ted persuaded her to stay on as an assistant coach was by recounting some of Alice's personal history back to her. She was moved by his appreciation of who she is. I'm a little surprised that Ted didn't just ask her what is going on or why she feels so compelled to run the players down. Alice probably isn't ready to share much, but... He did say he hoped the time away would give Alice a chance to reflect on herself... It sure seems like Alice is a powder keg tipping closer and closer to a flame.
I just don't want another repeat of the Nate storyline, though I think Alice's reasoning is a lot different. I'm sure it is to do with her feelings of resentment that she can't do the thing she loves best. Ted suspending her was unusual for him, but I think he knew she wasn't going to talk about her feelings. Being away from the thing she loves might actually work?
