Doctor Who 12x01
We have now begun series 12 with a BANG! Okay, I hope it's not just me that was utterly surprised by this one. Was NOT expecting that at all 馃ぃ
What a fun episode! I adored the spy theme. It was so well done, really lovely to look at too. I know it's only episode one, but it feels like a really great and promising start to this series. I wonder if this series got less complaints than series 11?
I hope you enjoy!

Such a fun episode! I love the reimagining of the "My Fam" theme as a Bond soundtrack. Mandip Gill put in such a good Yaz performance in this one, ranging through so many emotions. And not enough can be said about how amazing Sacha Dhawan is as the Master!
Yessss with this reveal! It's so good! Because even if you think O is a bit suss at any point you NEVER know his true identity, spymaster, it was staring us in the face the entire time!!! it's just a fantastic moment, everything you want from a Master reveal, the complete change in character and everything he does this episode is just so good. Also that tissue compression thing he has to shrink people is quite terrifying! Just a brilliant episode in general, Dr Who James (Jane?) Bond, here for it! Really liked the aliens too, really cool look and feel, comes across as a fresh enemy. Wished Stephen Fry could have played a larger part in the episode but loved he was in it though, love him so much!
I remember when first watching this and my shock when "O" went "Spy... mahster!", probably similar to your reaction in fact. Once again I have to compliment Chibnall because it's a great twist, and one that you can see subtly foreshadowed on a rewatch. Sacha Dhawan also did a great job with his performance and completely changing character just like that. Tissue compression was a trick of the various classic series masters, making it literally a 'classic' from him. This is definitely a fun start to the season with the chance to do a bit of a James Bond theme/homage and Stephen Fry's sadly small role as C. I don't know how much better received it was than last season but I do personally think it's better, for the most part. I was very excited that you'd be getting to do this one and the last one in the same week.
It was such a great twist and I never expected it! When I looked back during editing I could see very subtle signs and "looks" from the Master, but I just thought he was a bit eccentric. The whole spy theme is SO FUN and the start of this season seems very promising! I'm so glad you're excited for the next episode, and yes there's a few additional episodes of Doctor Who coming as I haven't yet worked out the third show but I'm working on it haha maybe next week 馃槄
"O"... It appears we have approached my personal favourite incarnation of the Master and also lovely to see Steven Fry in this episode, this is definitely one of the best stories during this era of Doctor Who.
I absolutely adored this version of the Master! I did NOT see that coming at all. I didn't even think we'd see the Master again, after what happened!
