Ted Lasso 3x09 Edited & Full
Oooh what a lovely episode. So good to see characters growing even closer, and often in mature ways as well by working through their issues and talking.
I haven't forgotten what Nate did but.... I love what is happening with his character.

Did I miss it, or has anyone pointed out that you first met Mae (Annette Badland) when she played Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day Slitheen in 3 episodes of Season 1 of Doctor Who? I hope she's back in Season 4 (which I'm waiting to watch along with you)
Lots of stuff I like in this episode, but maybe most of all I like how, after meeting Rupert, Jade's comment is, "Well, he is wealthy." I love how she gives Rupert the same sort of non-expression face she used to give Nate. She sees Rupert's duplicity and contemptuous entitlement immediately -- just as she used to see it in Nate. Nate's sense of morality was always in conflict with his efforts to be "cool" or powerful -- it's so good to see him dropping the attempt to be, well, an asshole, and not being afraid to love what (and who) he loves. And maybe that's where that plot line intersects with the Colin / Isaac plot line: People who they love and in response to them, love is what we should give them. Roy Kent saying "I give him love" is so awesome!
I somehow missed that there was an extra Ted Lasso reaction last week, though at least that meant that you got 3 doses of Brett Goldstein in a week which is hardly a bad thing. I was actually thinking a lot recently about something I should have commented on at the time but when Roy was a tv pundit early last season he was asked about a young player and pointed out that as he was so young and it was his debut it was too early to judge or place any expectations or something like that, which makes sense given he was subject to such a negative reaction on his own debut from Trent of all people. I really love the subplot with Isaac and Colin. I really like Isaac in those two episodes, not the ignoring of Colin for a while but first with his reaction and concern over photos and videos being leaked but then the reveal at the end of this one that his reaction wasn't due to any prejudice but simply how hurt he was that he felt Colin didn't trust him. While going into the crowd was the wrong thing to do, it's understandable and the fan really had it coming, especially with what Mae said about how the same guy hurt her niece. It's actually based on an incident from the 90's when a player attacked a member of the crowd who was abusing him. By this point I think Nate is very much waking up to the fact that Rupert is a horrible and manipulative boss and as you mentioned in your thoughts to the last episode he recognises what he had at Richmond and how he hasn't got that at West Ham. Jade was capable of seeing right through Rupert in a way hardly anyone else has.
Well Juliette, I finished tidying all the books away and got my yummy pizza reward. It took me 5:27:40 in total, and yes, like a crazy man I did it all in one go. It's very slow going at first but once you level up all the spells things move much faster. If only I had some tidying spells in real life! Edit: Played again today and got it down to 3:36:06. I need to work on getting a faster start so I can get the achievement for finishing in less than three hours. Thanks for what's sure to be another great reaction and have a lovely day 💜
