Ted Lasso 3x01 Edited & Full
Well, here we are in season 3! It feels a bit strange knowing there's a 4th season coming out very soon but I'm sort of treating the first 3 seasons like their own arc!
I cannot wait to see where this goes and it's kinda nice to have someone on the show that makes me furious 馃ぃ I don't get angry that often so poor old Nate is getting the brunt of ALLLL my emotions!

Nate wants so badly to be respected, and he thinks he needs to be powerful in order to be respected. And he is stuck in the idea that power looks like being able to cause harm to others. When he feels embarrassed or vulnerable, when he wants to feels strong, he lashes out at others. He reacts that way even in season one a few times. So many of us (and especially those of us socialized as male) are stuck in the idea that power looks like violence. To kill, harm, belittle -- so many of us think of that as evidence of power. It is such an impoverished, life-leeching way of thinking about power. Destroying is so easy. It hardly takes any power at all. To knock things down is so easy. If only we could understand true power as what Ted demonstrates in his ability to take a room full of people and build them into a community with mutual respect and appreciation -- and fun! laughter, people smiling, everyone enjoying themselves and enjoying one another.
Good luck with the neighbors. Season 3 is gonna be fun, I really liked it first time thru. And since you brought it up, when are you moving on to Jody's Doctor? She's great, and the season isn't so bad.
I posted about this recently on the YT community page, but we are returning to Doctor Who after Arcane. I'm so happy with my decision to take a break as all of the negative comments about Doctor Who have gone! I'm starting with fresh eyes and an open mind 馃グ
It's interesting to see you mention the upcoming season 4 as the timing should work out for you to be able to move right on to that once you finish this one. It's amazing to think about what Nate was like in the early days, genuinely surprised and delighted that Ted gave him any attention and respect and all and I enjoyed seeing the contrast between how he and Ted were approaching coaching at their respective clubs with Nate not being afraid to burn his bridges, though at the same time I wonder if he's doing so at least in part to please Rupert. I loved that Ted's response to everything was to stick to the high road rather than hit back at Nate on his level. Sometimes I wonder if Roy's niece Phoebe is the most sensible characters in the show. Certainly she's probably the only person who could get away with telling him that he's being stupid for breaking up with Keeley. I hope you're right that they'll get back together eventually.
I think we will be pretty close to season 4, if not off by a few weeks but I'm hoping that will give people time to watch it by themselves first. Honestly such great timing that I started Ted when I did!! So true about Nate in the early days. I think it stems from his father. Maybe he saw Ted as a kind of father figure (easy to do as he's so kind) so getting recognised and praised by him probably meant the world. He just makes me so mad though... And I don't get mad easily! And yes, Phoebe is one of the most sensible 馃槄 Have a lovely rest of your week, Alice 馃挏
For those following along with my riveting insomnia journey, I can report that last night felt a bit better. I have been under a lot of stress with the new neighbours next door (LONG STORY) so last night I tried sleeping in another room, away from their noise and it helped. I woke up several times in the night, but each time I picked a letter of the alphabet and tried to think of words starting with that letter. It helped me to not sit there and "think". I feel it actually helped me drift off much quicker. I finally woke for the day after 4am and I know it sounds weird, but 4am is a huge improvement 馃槄 Yesterday and the day before I was honestly exhausted. I'm really starting to struggle now. I've got an appointment with the Doctor tomorrow. (See how I capatalise Doctor? Doctor Who influences me!!) Anyway... Have a lovely day/evening and sweet dreams 馃槾馃挏
Your neighbours are noisy into the night? I've had that before and it's horrible. With that and your insomnia I really feel for you Juliette. I also have trouble sleeping (due to tinnitus) and find that ASMR really helps to distract my brain from it and allows me to fall asleep. Maybe give ASMR a try if you haven't already. I find the fast & hectic type to be the best for me but there's many different types you could try (you'll need YouTube premium though to avoid all the ads). I really hope you'll be doing better soon and I wish you a good night's sleep tonight 馃挏
