The Good Place 4x13 Whenever You're Ready YouTube Edit & Full
And here we are... We've made it to the end and it's a bittersweet moment. The Good Place has been absolutely incredible. I have already been rewatching it and it won't be my last time. I never would have known about it if it wasn't for your suggestions. It would have flew past me, like the majority of shows, and that would have been such a shame to have missed it. I know we all have different opinions, but to me, this is a masterpiece. I will forever remember the characters and my love for it all... It was the best.

Oh and at first it bothered me that Pill Boi and the entire DDR crew and Donkey Doug and all of Eleanor's old friends were in the good place, but I suppose with the new system they were able to do those tests and somehow improve , which is a part of the plot I never -really- understood.
This show introduced me to some great actors but Marc Evan Jackson was just an absolute MVP in my mind and I think he deserves a shout out. Thinking about how funny he was is a good way to forget how sad Chidi's speeches made me. lol
Best series finale EVER! Michael's guitar teacher at the end is Ted Danson's RL wife, Mary Steenburgen. Also the guy that corrected Chidi and Eleanor told him to check himself and he replied that he wrote the book. He really was Todd May, a real-world philosophy professor, he was also one of the philosophers that were brought in as a philosophy and ethics advisor for the series.
If it hasn't been said,, part they cut (because they regularly had to cut so much from every episode (I think the streaming versions are actually longer than the ones aired on TV but still isn't everything), basically when you go through the doorway your "wave" goes back to the ocean to others, which is what happened with the guy and the mail at the end. Also much more lighthearted easter egg, I assume you aren't familiar with Nick Offerman but he was big on Parks and Rec and he really is into woodworking and the chair Tahani made (that production bought obv) was actually terrible according to him.
Janet got it right. There was no bad stuff. It was all good.
Omg what a journey!! This was an absolute pleasure watching you watch the show hahahaha!! It truly is one of the best television shows ever made from start to finish. One thing I do love that the creator/head writer Michael Schur did, that I didn't even realize until my third rewatch lol! He made it so you can rewatch the entire show and decide for yourself if you want to watch the last episode. Don't get me wrong, I love the last episode. It is heartbreaking and beautiful and funny all rolled into one. But if you've already seen it a couple of times, he made it so you can stop watching at the second to last episode with Chidi and Eleanor on the couch, watching the beautiful sunset and view. I love that he did that because sometimes I just want to think of them happily living forever and ever lol!!
Oh becca, I love the thought that we don't need to watch the last episode. We can choose to watch it or not and just leave it there, like that. That is so magical 🥹🥹
You did really well, Jules! At so many times throughout the episode I was a blubbering mess, lol. 😭 I am SO glad you loved this show! It's truly unexpected all the way through. You think it will go the predictable routes, like most shows would, but instead it surprises you again and again. From Eleanor confessing she doesn't belong in the Good Place halfway through the very first season to Michael being the architect of evil ("Whaaaaaaat?!?"), to finding out that even the Good Place has its issues to be addressed... the show kept me guessing all the way through. And it made laugh so hard. And it made me think about life and death and joy and sorrow. It made me wish that this version of the Good Place is what we'll get to experience -- the idea that we can keep learning and growing until we finally figure it all out in whatever way is most meaningful to us, then get to explore everything and anything and enjoy it all, and then be at blissful, gentle peace... it's all such a beautiful thought. I loved every bit of this show from start to finish. So many programs go on far too long and lose focus, but this show was so beautifully planned and executed from start to finish. Its ending was heartbreaking yet understandable, sweet and sad and lovely all at once. ❤️ It's a rare show and so wonderful. Just perfect. 😊🫶
Wasn't it just so perfect, Sherry 🥰 it feels like the best ending but it's just so sad, too. I love that it means so much to you, and I feel you've explained it all so well! It IS so rare and wonderful. It's magical. I feel blessed to have seen it, I truly do 💜 thank you for coming on this journey with me!!
#9359 on Tahani’s list was “Solve the Poincare Conjecture,” and was shown crossed off. This was a joke for math nerds in the audience like me. The Poincare conjecture was a conjecture in geometric topology. That Tahani solved it is pretty amazing. :) It was great getting to watch the Good Place with you.
Oh no way, see I'm terrible at maths so that definitely went over my head! Thank you for being here, Rick 💜
Oooh, oooh! I never get to be the first one to say this to a reactor. :) I'm excited, I hope I do it justice. The beautiful storytelling beat of this finale is that every character becomes the person that they were pretending to be in the first episode. Jason, the contemplative monk existing for a thousand Bearemys in his own mind. Tahani, the genuinely selfless rich woman dedicating herself to the cause of being there for everyone who needs her help. Chidi, the finder of ultimate moral truth and the ethical savior of the universe. Eleanor, truly belonging in the Good Place. Michael, the architect who shook everything up and found another way. And yes, even Janet, the not-a-girl whose only real purpose was helping everyone else be as happy as they could be.
It is the most wonderful ending 🥹🥹
I was a little worried this would be too sad or painful or dehydrating-via-tear-ducts for you, but it was so wonderful to see you enjoy it, and smiling so much. I've always thought they did a shockingly good job of nailing the landing on this show. I've been watching these reactions with the directors-cut/extended versions of these, and it's been interesting to see what bits got cut and to think about why. On one of your re-watches (and I suspect you're going to re-watch this multiple times!) you'd enjoy seeing the extended cuts. There's a few little jokes and scenes that add just a little more flavor, even if you can tell why they got cut. Thanks for sharing your journey, and I'll see you for A Man On The Inside, and until then -- take it sleazy! ❤️
I absolutely want to see the directors cut! I'm probably going to pick up a DVD from Ebay, just to know it will always be there as I no longer trust streaming services 😅 It was so very sad, but also... perfect. It felt like saying goodbye to our friends (t's FRIENDS) and I love that they all had their happy endings. I just worry about Janet... 🥲
“Picture a wave. In the ocean. You can see it, measure it, its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. And it's there. And you can see it, you know what it is. It's a wave. And then it crashes in the shore and it's gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while. The wave returns to the ocean, where it came from and where it's supposed to be.” There are times in my life that I have had existential crises and thinking of that quote always helped calm me. I think this show was a miracle. It is a show that made you laugh, cry, make you question your place in the universe, but also gives you tools to find your own good place in the universe. Not sure if there will be anything else like it, but we can all appreciate that it existed for the time it did, kind of like a wave.
Joe, I love your thoughts! I feel the same as you. It feels like a show we all need to watch and maybe the whole world would grow and become better people, united. It really is so very special 💜
"I say this to you my friend, with all the love in my heart and all the wisdom of the universe... Take it sleazy." Can't believe it's over.
It has been the absolute best show I've ever seen, hands down. It really has changed the way I think and feel!
Chidi said he didn't know why it was the moment that his mom kissed Eleanor on the cheek, and her mom wiped off the lipstick that he felt content, but when Eleanor started crying and not wanting to be alone he said he'd stay. I think that deep down in that moment, he realized Eleanor wasn't actually going to be alone and that's why it hit him then. I also love that Eleanor died buying "Lonely Gal Margherita Mix for One" but she steps through the door drinking margherita's with her friend. Lovely full circle moment there. (edit: typo) And a little fun fact; the actress who teaches Michael to play the guitar at the end is his real life wife. They've been married 30 years this month.
Oh no way, I didn't pick up the connection between the margherita!!! I LOVE THAT! I actually put a little text box in the youtube edit saying it was Ted's wife. Isn't that just so adorable 🥰🥰
I am not ready to watch this reaction, cause I don't want this reaction to be over. :(
I know the feeling 😭😭
It seems like just yesterday that you started watching The Good Place and sharing your reactions - and here we are already! In my opinion, this is one of the finest episodes of television ever made. Certainly the best series finale! I openly weep every time I see it. I appreciate how you express your emotions so openly and readily when watching these shows. Art makes us feel, and Great Art makes us feel… A lot. Also: idk if you’re much of a podcast listener, but NBC did a great companion podcast for TGP, hosted by the actor who plays Shawn! It’s a delight and you get a lot of insight into the show, actors, and writing. Also Also: I discovered this during the full-length watchalongs here, but my video kept going out of sync with yours! I realized mine had extra scenes and jokes - because I’m watching the Blu-rays. Not deleted scenes, exactly, but more of a “directors cut“. I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy, because it’s some fun bonus content for re-watches!
+1 on the podcast -- I'm not really a podcast guy, but TGPTP was really really fun.
Well Juliette, it has been amazing to watch you fall in love this this wonderful show. I'm guessing it's not wrong to say that it has become your favourite that you've seen thus far. Now we just need to find you another show that you can come to love as much, if such a show even exists. Thanks for sharing this journey with us and , of course, take it sleazy Juliette
I haven't watched your reaction yet but you've had time to edit and process, but we're experiencing your emotions for the first time. Could you check in on us all later, see if we need a cup of tea and a biscuit or some such? Thanks
Tea and bikkies is most definitely needed 🥹
Chidi in S4E9 'The Answer' at 11:03: "I can't just open a door and walk through without knowing what's on the other side. Even with eternity to try, I just don't think that can happen." He's grown so much. They all have. Turns out, eternity is long enough...
I love how Chidi said that and it turns out, he really can. They all had incredible growth. I am so, so proud of them all 💜
Take it Sleazy Juliette.
🤣🤣 what a way to end the show! It couldn't be more perfect, really.
Well, time to cry. Again.
I knew it would be sad but... it's a good sad. (I admit yesterday I said Michael's line about 'dry heat' because it actually was 🤣)
