Or maybe movies?

Thank you for your very helpful thoughts and suggestions on my post! It's given me lots to think about actually. Maybe it's left me more confused than before haha ๐Ÿ˜…

There is another option. I could do LESS shows and just do mostly movies instead. We could just have ONE show and ONE movie per week. The reason why it really has to be less, is that most movies are around 2 hours which is way longer than a show. It will take me longer to edit. I can get 3 regular length shows out per week if I work hard and stick to a schedule, but I would never be able to keep that up if I'm doing movies, too.

So I'd love to know your thoughts about this!

Personally, I prefer shows. It lets me bond with the characters more. There are drawbacks - if I pick a dud that barely anyone watches, I'm sort of stuck with it for a while and it takes up time and space that could be used for something more people want to see. They also sometimes have filler episodes that people often hate on. But the positives are character development, an ongoing story, attracting new viewers who like that show...

Whenever I've reacted to a movie, the footage has sat there for months. Like Scream 3, Karate Kid.... But maybe that's because I already have a commitment of the tv shows and I just didn't have time for movies. I'll be honest - I actually got an editor for the Scream 3 reaction and it worked out wonderfully! I haven't uploaded it here yet as there's always SO much going on here that I feel bad for uploading so much! But I might take this as a sign to upload it ๐Ÿ˜…

So if we did move to movies, I'd cut back on the shows so I'd have time to watch/edit the movie. Using an editor is not cheap and it's around $160 AUD but it could be an option. I cannot afford that every week. It would be a once a month expenditure so I'd edit 3 movies myself per month.

I'll wait and see what you think of movies vs shows but moving to mostly movies is something we could work on IF that seems like a good idea? After Good Place, Man on the Inside and Severance, that just leaves Doctor Who. That could be our weekly show until the 12th Doctor leaves (๐Ÿ˜ญ) and I could put that on pause and try movies. This would be around January.

I kinda like being the girl who watches shows though haha. A lot of other channels watch only movies.

Anyway - would love to hear your thoughts about this one! It's coming to the end of my time off and I've had such a busy but fun week doing all the things I planned to do. I hope everyone here has been as well as can be ๐Ÿ’œ

I love your reactions to Doctor Who and it would be fun to see your reactions to the spin offs too like Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures, it will also allow you to see more on the characters which you like xx

Battlestar Galactica please! The reboot. FYI The first 2 episodes are longer (miniseries) And then you move on to Season 1 episode 1 titled "33" .

The suggests of movies once a month seem good. Wondering how you might narrow your scope, Patron recommends and also movies by creators you've already enjoyed? There's a few by Whedon and there's got to be a lot more by other Mutant Enemy writers. Moffat has written one that i know of, probably more, Capaldi is all over the celluloid.

How about a movie just once a month? It would break things up a little, and maybe bring in some new subscribers who prefer movie reactions?

I prefer shows for all the reasons you said. However, when a movie breaks through the cultural zeitgeist, I think an occasion movie sprinkled in would be a nice shake up. Might I recommend one such movie--kpop demon hunters on netflix. After it came out under everyone's radar with a name that just seems like low quality kid movie, it shocked the world by being the most watched movie on Netflix EVER--by quite a bit. And several songs went straight to the top 10 worldwide and top 10 global charts, with one song being in both number one spots for 6+ weeks.

Seconding k-pop demon hunters, was about to write that suggestion myself.

I much prefer you continue with TV shows, especially Dr. Who. I'd prefer that you not pause, but if you need to do that, as others have said, the end of the Capaldi era would make sense. Since it looks like you've already figured out roughly when that is, Hopefully this isn't much of a spoiler, but if you continue on your once a week schedule, you'll actually make it into February.

I love both, so I can't choose. Going by the comments it looks like you got folks who enjoy both. How about sticking with shows and doing a single movie a month? That way you could have the movie edited and give yourself a little break once a month while keeping within your budget. But I'll stick around for whichever you choose and however you go about it. It's YOU I'm here for.

I LOVE that you do TV shows!! It's very rare that I watch movie reactions (some movies, yes, but they're usually a very specific movie I love or want to see reactions in specific scenes lol, so I don't even watch the whole thing hahaha). And Capaldi's last season is my favorite of his so I can't wait to see your reaction to that! I absolutely love the first season of 13 as well, but wasn't that into her second and third season. It can be so hit or miss with Doctor Who sometimes with me lol! But I love when you do comedies like Good Place! It looks like from your poll Ted Lasso will be your Good Place replacement, which is such a great show (though I did have issues in later seasons), but just look up the creator of Good Place's other shows if you want to take your pick. The man delivers every single time. His name is Michael Schur. (He did Parks & Rec (which has Adam Scott in it as well hahaha, Brooklyn 99, Man on the Inside, Rutherford Falls, and he's written for many more!)

But also, Battlestar is one of my all time favorite shows!

2 seasonal movies a month could be good or whatever you think is interesting for the channel but I do prefer shows

H

You clearly have a preference for TV shows, so go with that.

Todd Bolton ยท October 3, 2025

Yes, because your excitement is half the reason it's so enjoyable watching your reactions.

If you can find the odd movie that you can actually connect to and enjoy, I'd say that would add some variety. I'd like to think that your patrons could pick out a few that make good candidates because of how you'd resonate with them, and not just because they're popular (read: traditionally on demand for well-performing movie reactions)

Hi Juliette ๐Ÿ‘‹ Personally, I enjoy movie and TV show reactions equally so I'll watch whatever content you put out. Saying that though, as TV reactions take so long to get through maybe one or two movie reactions per month would add a bit more variety to your channel and could help bring in viewers who don't have the desire, or possibly can't commit the time, to watch a multi-month TV show reaction. I know you like the depth of story writing & character development that a show can bring and if that's really what you prefer it may be better to stick to that, but there are some truly excellent movies out there with amazing stories & characters that I'm sure you'd enjoy. Like I said though, whatever you decide I'll be watching. Glad to hear you've enjoyed your break Juliette and I hope you have a most lovely weekend to finish it off ๐Ÿ’œ

TV for sure, even if there aren't many things I'd be familiar with or be interested in watching aside from Doctor Who. I agree with what you say about bonding with the characters also also seeing plotlines unfold. It's interesting that you're thinking of at least pausing Doctor Who, which as it's such a long-term commitment for you to react to (even leaving aside the spinoffs and Classic Who) I don't blame you if you want to take a break for a bit. While I don't hate on the later seasons like lot of others do (though I'm not the biggest fan of them either) the end of Capaldi's era is a good point to leave things at least for a bit, before what would be a fresh start with Thirteen.

H
Helen ยท October 2, 2025

I totally agree. The end of Capaldi 's era is a great natural point for a pause (if you so choose). I also agree that the later seasons are worth watching.

I'll be honest, I usually follow reactors for certain shows (mainly Doctor Who and Buffy/Angel. But it would be very unlikely I would sit through a movie reaction. There would possible be only a few movies I'd bother. But if you prefer tv shows do that because you need to enjoy doing these reactions. And as others have said you could do a movie a month or something. And lastly, I'm not voting for movies if it means having a break from Doctor Who.

Deffo TV shows for me! Did you ever see Alias? One of the better shows from the post-Buffy wave

Alexis ยท October 2, 2025

Both my parents worked in the movie industry and I grew up on movies so obviously I'm going to vote "movies" if given the choice :p. However, none of that matters if you're not enjoying doing movie reactions. Since editing the reaction seems to be one of the bigger sticking points... perhaps keep them as full-length, watch-along Patreon exclusives (which in theory should require minimal editing)? Those reactions can always be edited at a later date/asynchronously if you wish. Might also allow you to create a stock of "unreleased content" (as far as the masses on YT etc. are concerned) which could come in handy if for some reason you need to take a break but don't want to interrupt your release schedule. I'm saying all this because there are some truly absolute masterpieces of movies out there that I believe you would thoroughly enjoy watching & reacting to, even if TV shows are more your jam.

S
SeeJay ยท October 2, 2025

Personally I prefer shows to movies. Even when there's a dud filler episode that no one likes, personally I don't think it's a waste, I think it's a natural part of the reaction, and there's always someone out there who enjoys it. Also sometimes we like seeing how you will respond to these types of episodes. How about a hybrid option of maybe doing 1 movie per month? Obviously you might have to cut an episode or 2 of the show that week, or do 2 movies in the one week instead of any shows. Not trying to confuse you, or make it more complicated just thinking of alternatives that might still allow a movie here and there without sucking up all your time.

OverWims ยท October 2, 2025

I also much prefer shows to movies. It gives you longer to tell a story. People always say "the books are better than the films" and that's because the books are longer. This is the exact same for shows. Shows have more runtime in just 1 season than an entire movie does. If you want some recommendations, you can't go wrong with 12 monkeys and person of interest. 2 very different shows but both excellent.

C
Captain Hammer ยท October 2, 2025

My main issue with movies is that everyone seems to do the same ones that get high views so I get tired of those movies and don't watch them much anymore. But you seem to go against the grain a little bit so I'd be open to trying that for awhile if you wanted to see how it works.

M
Michael Jones ยท October 2, 2025

I prefer the TV Shows, but ultimately it has to be whatever interests you the most.

Joe ยท October 2, 2025

I like your focus on TV shows. (Plus I am really excited about the possibility of a Ted Lasso reaction.). Just a thought though. What about one movie a month? Maybe there is a movie week where you adjust your schedule and the other three you stick to the shows. That would keep the shows as the main part but have a fun occasional movie break.

Here's what matters: "Personally, I prefer shows." There's your answer. Your community wants you to enjoy what you do, and it seems like you just wouldn't enjoy movies as much. That's totally fine. ๐Ÿ™‚ Do what you enjoy, full-stop. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ––
