Doctor Who 10x01 The Pilot Edited
Welcome to Series 10 of Doctor Who! It has begun with bells on for me as I already adore Bill. Is it just me or is Bill Potts quite similar to Billie Piper or... Maybe not 馃槄 It might be a River Song/Melody Pond thing all over again!
Bill is adorably human, full of quirks, and to me I find her so relatable. I am looking forward to her emotional journey of growth and discovery, especially if her mum and finding a relationship is involved. Very invested in that!

I am so excited for this season! It's my absolute favorite of Capaldi's!! And Bill is one of my favorite companions!!!
Yes!!!! Bill, Nardol and The Doctor lol. What a trio. Cannot wait for this season!!!! 馃檶
Personally I think this might be one of the strongest new companion episodes. Technically Donna's "Partners in Crime" is my favourite, but I don't count it since they did already meet in Runaway Bride, and Runaway Bride isn't technically a new companion intro since Donna was just a one-off guest star at that point. The library two parter is also a contender for favourite, but since it was actually Rivers last time with Doctor (excluding her ghostly conference call version on Trenzalore) I don't count it as new companion intro either.
"I know you're not a sci-fi person" He is THE sci-fi person.
I do find it funny that we are just about to get the series 10 soundtrack released after all these years the same month you鈥檙e starting it too (release 12/10 which is funny)
That is crazy! In my mind, they've done it just for me 馃ぃ
There's so much to unpack with this episode! Bill and Nardole are awesome here, Peter is obviously amazing and their chemistry is already so good after one episode. Enjoyed Heather too actually, think this was a really good companion introduction type episode. Also something very small but nice touch to notice - When the Doctor is about to wipe Bill's memory and she says imagine if someone did this to you and Clara's theme plays ever so lightly over the top - chefs kiss lol Actually reminds of Clara's first episode when she does the one word test and says 'Pond', like all the Moffett companions are linking up with each other lol But yeah as a series opener and introduction to everyone it's excellent.
I adored this series opener! Peter has honestly owned this role, hasn't he? What a gem 馃グ
I love The Pilot so much. Bill and Heather was so sad at the end :( also I don't remember if you had seen some early Classic Who? Would explain who the girl is in the photo next to Rivers portrait on the Doctors desk. Also Nardole is too funny, he works so well with 12. Been looking forward to this season for 2 years since you started XD. This aired in 2017, was really when I started getting involved with online fandoms. I think this season was like a fresh start or a jumping on point for new viewers. Back then we all got to feel like it was our first time watching again :j It has been so much fun seeing you get to experience all New Who in this way. You still have a ways to go before catching up to current day Who but it sure has flown by鉂わ笍 Also the visuals just keep getting better and better馃槍
Oh my goodness, yes!! I think back to watching for the first time with the 9th Doctor and the visuals we had then. It's just so beautiful now. Such a huge change since around the 11th Doctor began. So pretty 馃グ
Video in sync this week love season 10 its 12 at his best
YAY! So glad to hear that, Dave!!
I'm glad you finally got to this one. It's always great to get a new companion, to see them encounter the Doctor and find out about him and the TARDIS and developing a new dynamic. Both Amy and Clara stuck around for quite a while (and we had a returning character in Donna before that) so we haven't had much of that for a long time, so it felt overdue (Nardole is more a secondary comic relief companion rather than a more conventional companion role). I think Bill is great and this was a good debut for her, demonstrating why the Doctor took an interest in her and why she's worthy to be taken under his wing. A new season also means new plotlines and mystery. In this case he's been on Earth for decades not able to travel around because he's guarding something in a vault. As usual it's interesting to hear you speculate about what might be going on and to look forward to your reaction when it's revealed. Finally changing companion is also a good opportunity for a fresh start and a good jumping on point for new viewers, even if Moffat couldn't resist a bunch of continuity nods. On that note, you wouldn't have known the other woman in the photo who you seemed confused by but that was Susan, the Doctor's granddaughter (as she's not been mentioned specifically but the Doctor being or having been a grandfather has come up multiple times) and one of the first companions. Her actress is the only surviving cast member from the first episode of the show and one of two people credited on it in any capacity to still be alive (the other being the director). It was nice to see River as well, as like in the last episode it's important that her loss be something that matters to the Doctor. Oh and on a final trivia note, Bill and Heather were named after the original Doctor William Hartnell and his wife, which is really sweet.
I've been curious to hear your thoughts about this season! I really loved this first episode. Bill seems sweet, so human and relatable. My mindset has changed so much with Doctor Who. I still get sad when we say goodbye to a Doctor or companion, but I also embrace the new and welcome the changes as it's 9 times out of 10 a wonderful step forward. I don't like to play favourites, but every time we get a new Doctor I never think I'd prefer them more than the last, but it often happens 馃槄 I love them all, but I'm so glad it doesn't take me long to hold onto a new Doctor or companion 馃グ
Welcome to series 10, one of the best series of Doctor who (imo its the best season ever) This episode is the perfect start, the doctor, Nardole and Bill make a brilliant trio
I love this trio!! It's started off wonderfully 馃グ
there's a deleted scene (available on youtube!) for this episode, the scene in the bar with Heather has the Doctor playing the guitar in the house band! a version of clara's theme <3 well worth a watch, i wish they had included it in the final cut such a great series premiere! i haven't rewatched series 10 in full since seeing it for the first time and can't wait to watch it with you
Oh wow.... Dashing to youtube now! AHHHH WHY didn't they leave this in 馃槶馃槶 Thank you for telling me!
