I think it's important to note that I like happy endings, even if they are a bit unrealistic. Sometimes with Doctor Who, you just have to leave reality at the door and enjoy the story and fantasy you're given - if you can do that, there's a lot to like about this episode 🥰

I do love an episode with a more whimsical fairytale feel in Doctor Who. I know this one isn't well liked, but I always have and I was hoping you would too 💜
Sometimes I get tired of people complaining about episodes, and expecting a masterpiece each time! It's always fun just to take the episode for what it is, find something you like about it, and enjoy it 💜
I always get the feeling a large chunk of this episode is missing, particularly around the sister. There is also some dubious ideas about children not taking their medicines as the medicine is only blocking their natural abilitites. There probably is a place to do drama about the pros and cons of giving children mental health based medicines, but I really dont think this is the place for it and certainly not in the manner it is done here which could be potentially dangerous. And yet at the same time there is quite a bit of good in this. 12 with children is hilarious. The Danny/Clara/Doctor dialogue is all great stuff and it moves that story line on effectively, but you do kind of have to ignore or try not to think too hard about the actual story to enjoy it. The writer of this one Frank Cottrell-Boyle has an interesting resume and a history of trying to break traditional story structuring. This is the first of two he will write during the Capaldi era.
Honestly, I want more info about the sisters!! I'd love to follow up on that, but I'm not sure if we will ever see it happen. Very curious! The Doctor with children is just grand. They must seem like little ants to him, so young and tiny for such an ancient giant 💜
Well, within the surreality of the story, if these ethereal entomoids have the capacity to grow a fireproof planet-wide enveloping forestscape in order to help protect a planet from a potentially fatal solar flare, and do that overnight, then parceling up an errant teenager in a small bush and keeping her on her mother's doorstep until her mother and sister arrive is nothing. That really should be no surprise at all.
So I haven't watched this particular episode in many years and it's actually better than I remembered it! lol Good concept and visuals just think it suffered from what many sci shows do and they click their fingers and solve the issue in five minutes at the end, but overall there is a lot to like about this one! Been really enjoying Danny, and Clara and the Doctor great as always. Watching Capaldi struggling to deal with kids is always funny.
I love the premise and the visuals are stunning, and surprisingly emotional! Capaldi and Clara are great to watch no matter what scripts. Always fun to be had ❤️
This episode is hardly one of the highlights of the season but it's fun seeing the Doctor deal with schoolchildren in the TARDIS. Also with Danny being surprisingly accepting and reasonable given his girlfriend regularly wanders off into danger with an alien time traveler. As for Missy, well I know you'll have watched the next episode (and maybe the one after) by this point so you know what's coming, and it's fair to say the next reaction is one I've been looking forward to all season. There's also a little 'stinger' at the end of the season finale after the start of the credits so I hope you caught that if you have recorded that reaction.
