Angel 5x11 Damage
GREAT episode! Shocking and sad, with a wonderful, reflective ending. Very memorable, in so many ways ๐

Wasn't this a great one Jules! I love this episode. It's very dark and disturbing at times (Spike's hands!), but then at the end we had this beautiful scene with Angel/Spike, bonding. Yes, they were innocent, once upon a time. And then we had the surprise of Andrew showing up. Were we disappointed? Well, as they say in Mexico...No!:-) His storytelling just cracks me up. "Gather around...", "yes attractive slender woman"...LOL. But that ending, with him saying "where do you think my orders came from?"... Ouch! Yes, as you said, of course Buffy's gang thinks that working for W&H isn't good. And that isn't what Team Angel wanted to hear.
I felt SO sad when I thought it was Spike behind the kidnapping... It can be easy sometimes to forget what he and Angel did in the past and this was a terrible reminder. I feel bad for Angel. He's now looked down on by Buffy/Giles etc when it's not what they are thinking at all ๐ฅบ
The last scene is one of the most powerful in the whole Buffyverse. This is in my top five episodes of the season as well. I love the exploration of the impact to making all potentials slayers.
Your discussion at the end got cut off on my video so I don't know if you talk about it but this is one of the most pivotal moments for Angel the character in my opinion. He learns that Buffy doesn't trust him to be on the right team anymore. Remember that Buffy is the one who talked him out of suicide back when the First was manipulating him. She gave him the strength to seek redemption because she believed in him. "you have the power to do real good" she said. I can only imagine how much of a blow it is to hear that she doesn't believe in him anymore
I'm so sorry about the outro getting cut off ๐ญ it's available on the edited version, thankfully!
The end discussion got cut off with a black screen for me from 43:27 to 50:09.
Yeah, something got messed up somewhere. The YouTube edit has Juliette's end discussion fully intact though so we can just watch that instead.
Seeing Andrew and the slayers in this episode just really makes me wish we got a spin-off of some kind. I guess we have got the reboot coming in the next year or two now though so fingers crossed ๐ค that turns out good. Oh, and I was just as shocked as you were upon seeing that Spike's hands had been removed! ๐ฑ
Notice Spike letting Andrew have his moment, even letting him caress his face. This is the reunion we didn't know we needed. ;)
