Doctor Who 7x9 Cold War
This episode reminded me of a submarine movie I saw a while ago (I think it was Hunt for Red October?) and also another movie called Life (with Jake Gyllenhaal). I don't mind a submarine, me!
I love how every time there is a nice old man, I am instantly drawn to them. I reckon there's some sort of meaning behind that, but I do not want to go there on this day 🤣 Wilf, Rory's dad... this fellow. I need help!
I enjoyed this one, even if it didn't go how I thought it would but thinking about it, maybe that makes it a good thing as they do need to keep us on our toes sometimes!

Hugely underrated episode in my opinion, but this is coming from someone who loves anything in a Cold War setting
Not my favourite episode storywise but I liked the setting, and the alien had a very cool design I thought. I also enjoyed the little "are we speaking Russian?" bit between the Doctor & Clara. Now, I don't know why you are drawn to nice, old men, but I'm not complaining because that's why you like ME right Juliette!? 😂 Thanks for the reaction, very enjoyable as always. Hope you have a great end to the week.
Neil 🤣🤣🤣 you are amazing! It must be your nice, old man thing you have going on that makes me like you so much! You always make me laugh. I hope you have a lovely day ahead, sir 💜
Even if it's not my favorite story in the season, I absolutely love the aesthetics. The deep red and blue lighting is amazing
I particularly love that David Warner is known for playing grand, serious roles and here he plays a somewhat lighthearted, pop music obsessed oddball scientist. I think I read that he asked for that deliberately, to play against type.
That's great! It's my first time seeing him but I love this version haha
Incidentally the old guy who likes ultravox (David Warner) actually plays a parallel universe version of The Doctor in some of the Audio plays. https://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/dark-gallifrey-the-war-master-part-1-2962 If you've ever seen Time Bandits, he was The Devil in that. He's been in loads of stuff, Star Trek, The Omen, Twin Peaks, Tron, so much stuff
Oh wow, that is cool! I plan to watch Twin Peaks (reaction maybe?) so that's great I will see him one day!
Yay, it's my favourite time of week again (even if it's now an hour later after the clocks went forward here in the UK last weekend)! Every season aside from the last reintroduced an old villain, with the Ice Warriors following on from the Daleks, Cybermen, Master, Sontarans and Silurians. They're the canonical martians in Doctor Who (and were namedropped in the Waters of Mars) and this was actually their first appearance since 1974, having otherwise only appeared in the Second and Third Doctor eras.
