Angel 4x10 Awakening

Oh, that was beautifully done. I'm still in unknown territory, discovering this season together with you, so I'm thankful for the spoiler free blurb! I mean, I really expected the outcome, but not the way we were led there, nice!

Yeah. I feel the call out for Buffy is a callback to Angels associated experience the last/first time he lost himself to Angelus. On the rhythm of his confused memories. You're right sensing that it's all about to kick off. You have no idea how! So much so that I often felt this episode slows the pace of the arc unnecessarily. The more I rewatch it the more I appreciate it. For all the reasons Lime Pie mentions above it's a masterful nuanced reveal. And given some serious flaws in this arc it's a welcome fresh breath of Angel the series in simpler happier times. One other note. I'm fairly sure we've seen Wu-Pei, or a character closely resembling him, before. Possibly in a scene with Wesley or in an episode of Buffy predating this. The wiki makes no mention of it however. Can anyone back me up on this? Have I got confused memories too?

I really like how much more complicated Angel's "moment of perfect happiness" is now than when he reverted to Angelus before. He needs to go on a fantastical adventure to beat the big bad (and miraculously survive), Wesley to apologize to him (it's wild that he has yet to actually do this), Connor to stop relentlessly hating him and give up his obsession with Cordelia, Wesley and Gunn to do their special hand shake again, and to think of Buffy while he's getting it on with Cordelia. Angel might want to keep that last part to himself though lol.

Cordy and Connor .... your plan of selective amnesia is a good strategy. It doesn't always work for me but it is a good strategy. But I really do like this season alot. Some truly epic episodes are coming.

That sinister laugh at the ending of this episode always gives me goosebumps. The return of the most sadistic vampire in the Buffyverse. I remember feeling excited and scared at once the first time I watched this.

Your lips are very much NOT firmly sealed in the thumbnail though! 😯 😛 I've started playing Lost Records now and am really enjoying it so far. The camcorder mechanic is fun, and I'm enjoying finding all the things you can capture on film. I wasn't expecting to happen upon some squirrels getting busy though! 🫣😂
