Kawhi did do wrong imo. He knew the money was coming in an illegal (within league rules) way and still agreed to take it. The right thing would be to decline it, and even more right would be anonymously report it. Ballmer did the crime, Kawhi agreed to be an accessory to it... I say it's 25% Kawhi fault 75% Ballmer. It's a classic case of golden handcuffs. That's when you're compensated so well that you are unable to leave / report something wrong. For example Enron, people who got promoted into executive positions found out the fraud that was going on, but we're making +1m dollar a year salaries with bonuses, it was basically financial coercion. I give Kawhi more gruff because 30m isn't *that* much money compared to his career earnings. 1m for a corporate worker in 2000 is insane, 30m for someone who's made 450m+ is close to a drop in the bucket
yeah, I think the Enron comp is totally fair. I think Uncle Dennis was there to insulate Kawhi from what was really happening. plausible deniability and what not. ignorantia juris non excusat 🤷♀️
Just clocked out of work, going on a trip, just going home to take my stuff and gonna light one up and listen to this gem.
hope you enjoyed it, man ♥️
