Ep. 35 Mark of the beast
Why does everyone hate OKC? When does an NBA player turn evil? No one wants your superstar NBA player.

Does anyone else find jokic to be a lil boring? Don’t get me wrong I love the nuggets (went to college in Colorado), but I can’t help but feel bored when I put on a nugs game and watch him effortlessly drop 32 10 and 12 on your favorite team. Everyone calls out SGA for being boring cus he shoots a lot of free throws, but I legit feel nothing watching jokic play. He scores a shit ton, but never gets hyped or anything just that deadpan expression. Just saying this cus I only ever see praise of his game, but I just feel like there’s more to the NBA then getting buckets.
this is a fair point. the passes are pretty impressive, but having an incredible field goal percentage doesn't make the top 10 nor does 14 rebounds. Personally I watch Nuggets games with the box score in front of me. I just like watching the stats go up.
Yeah, as magic fan, we are good to this Giannis trade. I really trust in our core, and im locked in for the next 4 years. This season is kinda cooked now, Suggs and Franz out, but i will be happy if we just pass through 1st round on playoffs. For me is kinda a step up in the process.
I still believe in the Magic this year. Franz isn't supposed miss too much time. If you could work Suggs and Paolo into a Giannis trade I wouldn't hate it though. Paolo would get the deal done, but I personally would want off the suggs contract with all of his injuries.
What’s up bro, I don’t hate the thunder as a Knicks fan, but it’s the double standard of how big market teams get treated vs small markets in the CBA. The Knicks are constantly pressured to spend to stay competitive and get criticized when they fail, while smaller market teams get a bonus check every year because they aren’t spending to be competitive, and then when they are good because they got fortunate in the draft, they’re heralded as “winning the right way”
Yeah, but I think that's just a product of people hating big markets. Everyone loves the underdog. Everyone will always hate the Lakers, Cowboys, and Yankees. If there's not a conscious effort to praise/cover small market teams they'll just be forgotten.
Haven't finished the video yet, but I actually sat down and thought about why I don't like OKC. I'm a Knicks fan but also follow the league in general and usually like all the other teams. Despite all the factors you listed (draft development, being a source of pride for a small city, being under the luxury tax), I still think they’re an ideal team for the league, but maybe not an ideal team for fans (at least fans like me). Like boring, brand-safe polish vs a messier team with more personality. And while, yes, in a league sense, being family and advertiser-friendly matters, I don’t think that’s what is most fun and interesting. I watch basketball for the narratives/personalities and how the situations and drama reflect real life. Like I don’t think SGA has the cultural impact that other famous players, even with less success, do.
I agree. The Warriors had way more personality than this OKC team has. I think it's sort of important to have a boring almost monk like team in NBA history. An organization that feels like a Monastery more than a sports club. I think the same type of person who liked the spurs will like the thunder. Because wemby is not the prototypical spur like people are saying. Wemby is brash
