Your facts are a little off about Ohtani and I dont blame you because the reporting is slapping his name onto. The interpeter wasnt just his interpreter, he was effectively his USA liaison who handled all of Ohtani's American business, even down to stuff like helping him get his license, they had a super deep relationship. The DOJ fully investigated both of them and found that Ohtani put a ridiculous amount of trust in his interpreter, and let him have unrestricted access to his finances. It was also unearthed that said interpreter was a serial fraudster who lied about graduating from UC Riverside and lied about working for the Red Sox to get the Angels job. He had zero background in interpreting. I have no doubt he stole the money and gambled it on his own. I have no doubts the MLB would cover up misdoings of their stars, but the feds dont care. Michael Vick was one of the biggest NFL stars and got sent to prison in his prime
