Update - 08/01/2024
Hello, everyone! How was your first week of the year? Mine was spent doing the usual. I had a lot of administrative work to deal with this week so that meant almost no creative work, unfortunately. I also spent a lot of time fixing little details for the Ker Nethalas release, since folks have been really helpful so far and have sent me tons of things I had missed (mostly typos and silly things like that, but some of them pretty fundamental). I'm super happy to see a community forming around Ker Nethalas, and I see a lot of people already having fun with the game. Meanwhile, I'm also working with Glynn on the cards, which are shaping up very nicely, they should be done within the next two weeks!
I've also worked a bit on Ruthless Heavens, Boundless Fate, but less than I'd have liked to. I've bounced all over with it, instead of having focused on finishing the character creation chapter, because I had some ideas for other systems and didn't want to forget about them. I also wrote quite a bit of lore, so even though it feels like I haven't done much progress, once I get to those sections I'll already have a lot written for them. I'm trying to get the character creation chapter wrapped up this week, but we'll see. I do need to finish the Ker Nethalas stretch goals, which will become the first issue of the game's official zine, but I think I'm still doing well, time-wise.
I still want to push for a Patreon release of RHBF, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. At the very least, I would give you guys the WIP chapters with the character creation and gameplay rules, so that you can start planning your characters and learning the game. I want this game to be a big hit, and I think I can make it happen, especially considering I'm working with incredible artists for it. I'm a bit worried though because I'm really spending a lot of money on art and this is just the tip of the spear, I'm going to need a few thousands just to cover it so once I bring this game to Kickstarter the goal is going to be higher than I'd like it to be. I'm still going to go for the format I used for the Ker Nethalas campaign, which is fulfillment via DTRPG, with a limited edition of 100 offset copies. This turns the campaign into a numbers game, though, because with a base pledge of 15€ you need a lot of people in order to make any significant amount of money. I'm hoping that once people see how beautiful the game is going to be, and how cool the setting and mechanics are, that they'll want to join us for the ride.
So I guess that's it for this week, I'm going back to fixing a few things for Ker Nethalas and as soon as I'm done with that, I'll see if I can wrap up the Skills for RHBF. Still a few dozens to go...
Have a great week!
