Update - 07/09/2026
Hello, and welcome to another update! I hope you all had a great weekend. I spent mine working and little else. I did play a couple of matches of Marvel Champions, though, which is becoming my comfort game since it's quick to set up and play. Saturday I finally got the news I was waiting regarding my dog. So it turns out she has benign tumor, which is good, but the problem is that since it's in her thorax and it keeps growing, it presses her heart, main blood vessels, lymphatic nodes, and lungs, which is why she couldn't breathe and her neck was swollen with fluids. The surgery was only partially successful; they managed to remove a good chunk of it, so now she has less pressure and she can breathe again, but the big part is too close to the heart and they couldn't risk cutting it out. So we're going to start with a chemotherapy treatment, and in about a month she'll have another CAT scan to see how the tumor has reacted to it. The best possible scenario is that it hasn't grown, since apparently chemo in dogs doesn't actually reduce or kill tumors, they are too small to receive the sort of dose that would do that. The next step will probably be having to take her to radiotherapy, but there's an issue with that: the only center in Spain that does that is about 500 km away from where I live... So I would need to find a hotel there and stay for a couple of weeks with her. I love her and if I saw she was suffering I wouldn't consider doing any of these things, but she's as vital as ever, playing, running, barking... it's impossible to tell she's sick. She clearly wants to live, so I'm going to do everything I can. The problem is that this is VERY expensive; I'm getting a taste of how things are done in the US, with everything being private, and it's killing me. So far I've spent 5000€ on her surgeries, treatments, and tests, which is what I had left of my savings after having had to buy all the new furniture for the new place, etc. I am broke. And the new stuff is going to be about 7000€ more in total. So I will most likely have to take a loan to pay for all this. The worst thing is that they can't guarantee me the tumor will actually disappear with radiotherapy, since it's so big...
In other news, I finally wrapped up Broken Shores 2e, in case you missed it. It still needs playtesting, the ToC, the index, the PDF bookmarks, and most of the gameplay sheets, but it's content complete, so you can grab it from your DTRPG library right now. The feedback I've been getting so far has been extremely useful, so keep it coming!
This month is going to be largely dedicated to setting up the Kickstarter campaign, since it must go live the first week of October, according to GamesQuest. This is going to be my first attempt since ATDW to go big with a game, and I honestly really need this to be a success, so I'm doing everything I can to make sure this blows up. Paul is going to be helping me with the pledge manager and serving as a liason with the GamesQuest people, so I'll focus on all the other stuff. I've also talked to a couple of content creators so we can have some videos ready before the campaign launches, and I hope that my own devlog video series helps with the hype!
I think this is long enough for today, so I'll leave it here, since I have a lot of work to do. I hope you all have a great week!
