Update - 20/07/2026

Hello, and welcome to another weekly update! We're already past the half of the month, time is surely flying! I hope you all had a great weekend; I met friends on Friday night and then I had a birthday dinner on Saturday. They had Dunkin Donuts for dessert and I truly stuffed myself, they are my weakness, haha. It was disgusting, the amount of food I ate, if I didn't take 6000 calories in that single meal... In any case, it was fun!

Last week I finally released Machine Gods of the Noxian Expanse, or should I say, re-release. The Array Thicket was completely new, though, and that book is selling better than the Core Rules so far, which means it's mostly returning customers that already own the original from when it was first released. Overall sales are pretty terrible, though, and I really hope that things start getting better soon. Combined with a pretty brutal decline on Patreon subs (I lost in a moth what I usually gain in a year), this month's being pretty terrible. On top of that, I had high hopes for the Italian version of Ker Nethalas, but apparently it only sold 65 books so far during the first three months. so I've made barely 200€ in royalties from that. Really crappy summer so far!

I soldier on, though, and I've been working hard on getting Broken Shores ready. I will not have it this month, but it's going to be a close thing; I expect to finish the exploration chapter before the month's over, since I'm already halfway done with it. After that, it's the Gear and the Beastiary chapters, which should go faster (especially since I already wrote all the crafting rules, which took me a couple of weeks). I'm pretty happy with how everything is progressing so far, and the new systems I'm adding to the game really add to the experience. I cannot wait to start playtesting! I would really like to see if I can run this for a few of you next month, but for that I want to have the introductory archipelago done, and I'm still not sure how I'm going to approach that. I realized that having the fate of your character depend entirely on your luck when you start out, isn't a great experience. In the first edition, if you didn't find an island during the first ten days, you were basically dead. Considering an island only appeared on a roll of 1 on a D20, the chances were slim, and most PCs met their end due to dehadration. Which sure, it's pretty realistic, but often realism doesn't equate fun. So I think it's best if new PCs start already on a partially explored archipelago and use it as a starting point for their adventures.

So this week I'll continue working on Broken Shores, and I really should get back to writing Book of Horrors entries because Penny is waiting for me to continue with the illustrations, since he's all caught up!

Have a great week!

Sorry to hear that the sales have been on the low end but Im sure Broken shores and the Book of horrors will bring in some more revenue when they eventually are out. Wishing you the best!

Thank you! Yes, Ker Nethalas is what keeps the business afloat, for sure!

You could use the same mechanic from aatdw travel, so that you get +1 to the roll every day (and aim for a 20). You will find an island eventually, but you don't know exactly how long it will take.

Not a bad idea, thanks for the suggestion!
