Update - 08/06/2026
Hello, and welcome to another weekly update! I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent mine simply working, since I have a lot to do. I did watch a couple episodes more of Widow's Bay and I love that show, it's so fun! Highly recommended.
As you guys know, I'm going to start working with GamesQuest to distribute my Kickstarter games. I'm doing this mostly so I can expand operations and start producing proper offset copies again, like I did with Across a Thousand Dead Worlds, and have them be affordable to ship to anyone on the planet. The problem is, this means a huge increase in admin work. I need to learn how to deal with GQ's database, link it up with my site, and deal with a million other details like UK VAT, new EU regulation regarding safety (yes, even for books... I have to prove that they are not sharp enough to harm a person, I kid you not), and more garbage like that. And that's just the tip of the iceberg, because having a larger crowdfunding campaign means dealing with a pledge manager, and those are an absolute nightmare. Essentially, during a few months this sort of thing becomes a full time job. Which is why people hire project managers. So I've been shopping around for one, but since I want to work with someone I know because I don't trust people anymore (I do not want the ATDW shitshow to happen again), the pool of people is rather small. I've asked Richard, Glynn, and a couple of other people, but they don't want to deal with something like this (and who can blame them...). So I'm a bit stuck right now with all this and it looks like I'll have to learn how it goes and do it myself, as is the case with everything else.
Aside from all this, I'm making great progress with all the other things I have pending, namely all the Ker Nethalas content (the cards, the Book of Horrors), and the Machine Gods content (Noxian Reclaimers, Foundry module, etc.). This year is turning out to be one of revisions and consolidation, which I guess is a good thing. But I know I've pissed off a lot of people with the new versions of Ker Nethalas and Machine Gods (they remind me of it all the time), so I have to be careful about doing this sort of thing. It's really difficult to find the sweet spot between paying too much attention to a game and wanting to have the best version of it available, and not paying enough attention to it.
So this week I'll deal with all the lose ends I have and continue working on Machine Gods. I've also started outlining what will probably be my Summer Vacation Game(TM), since I need some purely creative work, and I want to try new ideas. This year is passing by way too fast, and I feel like I'm not really accomplishing anything! Really stressful...
Have a great week!
