Update - 16/03/2026

Hello, and welcome to another weekly update! I hope you are all doing well. I've been completely hyper-focused on getting the new version of Machine Gods ready, and it's really close! Richard ended up adding a lot of new stuff, so despite the rules being much (much) simpler, there are so many new things that the book is actually going to be at least twenty pages longer once I'm done with the layout. There's also the fact that I'm adding new art to it, of course. Richard is actually already done with the fixes for The Voidspire Territories book, too, since it was essentially just a few tables that needed fixing, the rest can stay as it is. I didn't want to add more content to that book because I am honestly way past my budget, which is the reason I've decided to organize a Kickstarter. Things are starting to get a little bit rough around here; sales are way down (like 50% lower than usual, for the past couple of months), and I am also bleeding Patreon members; this month I've lost quite a lot. I assume it's because of the state of the world and how everyone is suffering from economic uncertainty, but I can't help to wonder if I'm doing something wrong (a few people that have left have told me it's because of not producing enough content, or not the type of content they want). Combined with the fact that I'm having a bit of a rough time with family and personal stuff, I can't say 2026 has started very well for me. I really hope it improves in some aspect, but we all know how it goes, when life hits you, it doesn't hit you once, it just keeps coming. All there is to do is hope we can endure it.

This situation in my personal life is having a bit of an impact on my productivity, even if I try really hard to work as much as possible. This means that I don't think I'll be able to do much else aside from having the two Machine Gods book done. I wanted to keep going with ATHV and the third Machine Gods book, but it's not going to be possible, the whole Machine Gods revamp has been a larger undertaking in all senses than I expected.

All this is making me realize that, despite how much I enjoy it experimenting and writing new things, I need to seriously focus on the games that allow me to keep going, namely Ker Nethalas, followed by ATDW, and to certain degree Riftbreakers and Machine Gods. I have taken for granted the success of Ker Nethalas and I'm not pushing as hard as I should with it. It's not like it's hard for me anyway, I love writing for that game, but I do like trying new things, and you never know what's going to work out. So this of course doesn't mean I'm abandoning my other games and projects, it just means that I am seriously going to prioritize the games that work, and only work on other stuff when I actually have the time for it, not when I feel like it.

I think you guys can expect the revised Machine Gods this week, can't wait to see what everyone thinks of it! I'll be focused on getting these two books done, so I can continue writing the third one, since I don't want to organize the Kickstarter without having the book finished, and I really need to have it all set up for next month. We'll see, though, if things keep going as they are it's quite possible I'll have to push it back to May.

Have a great week!

Sorry to hear all that. What is the best physical version of Across 1000 Dead Worlds I can buy in the US? And also, ready to purchase the updated Ker Nethalas as soon as it is finished!

Thanks! I'd actually recommend you purchase the version from my site, since it's the offset version. This means the quality is vastly superior to PoD, and you also get tokens and maps. The shipping sucks, but the PoD version for sale on DTRPG or Amazon is so damn expensive, and the quality can't compare, that I don't think it's worth it while I still have good copies left. As for Ker Nethalas, you can already purchase the PoD from Amazon!

I really don't know what to say about people leaving your Patreon because they "didn't get enough new content" It beggars belief, as we say around here! Keep pushing onwards, Alex, and focus on the games that are doing well for you, like Ker Nethalas.

Whoever said you aren't producing enough content must have clicked the wrong button accidentally. 🤣

I was honestly shocked, yeah. I am aware that I do release a lot of stuff, but it comes at a cost, since it's literally all I do, all day long. So when two different people left the Patreon last week saying that, well...

So sorry to hear how 2026 has started, Alex. I think your instincts are right to focus on the games like KN that have really taken off. I think more expansions for KN would do very well personally.

Thanks! Yes, I need to overcome the bottleneck that is the art, and I'm working on that, cause I also have lots of things planned for the game but the art always delays everything.
