Machine Gods conversion update!
Hello, everyone! So a quick update: it seems that you guys are almost unanimously and enthusiastically in favor of a new version of Machine Gods, at least according to the many messages and comments I've received since yesterday's poll. This is actually something I've been considering since I decided to stop working on D20 rulesets; I really enjoy the Machine Gods setting, I think it's fun and interesting, and it looks like a lot of people agree, since it's sold well so far. Despite the issues the ruleset I wrote for it has, people enjoy the game and keep coming back to it. I actually have a lot of ideas for the setting, since it's really fun to write for it and explore this broken world.
So I talked with Richard Kelly, my usual collaborator in all things Blackoath and author of a lot of games, and asked him his opinion about what existing OSR system would work well with Machine Gods. As you know, my first instinct was to go with The Black Hack, but it does seem like its popularity has waned; there were a lot of people asking me "what's that Black Hack you're talking about?". Considering Mörk Borg's undying popularity, and the fact that I often get asked if I will ever work on a MB supplement or game, and most importantly, the fact that Richard has already released a lot of material for the system, deciding to go with MB for this new version of the game was a no-brainer.
Another reason to get Richard on board for this is that I don't enjoy working on rules-light systems. I feel the constant urge to add more and more, and that goes against the very design goals behind Machine Gods, which is keeping it simple and focusing on creating a rich and unique setting. With Richard in control of the rules, I can focus on developing the setting. It's a win-win!
The last thing I wanted to add is that this will be a free update. The game is only one year old, and re-releasing it with a new system and charging for it feels like a dirty move, so anyone who owns the book will get the free update. I am hoping to have The Voidpsire Territories book updated shortly after, too. And maybe get started with what comes next...
As for the project's ETA, I'd say before the summer's here we should all have it in our hands!
So that's it, let me know if you have any questions!

Will the MB version still have self-contained solo rules, or would we need to lean on something like Solitary Defilement?
It's a complete game, and all my games have solo rules. So yeah, you'll not need anything at all!
If I buy Machine Gods and The Voidspire on DTRPG before the system gets updated, will I still have access to the original game to download?
If you purchase it before the MB version is out you will, but once it's out it will replace it entirely. I don't want to confuse people having a game with two different rulesets. So I'd recommend you download it and save it.
Thats absolutely awesome! I have a solo campaign that's been going on for almost a year now (since last may) that I play weekly and I love the setting. Sorry if this is a stupid question but will it still be soloable under the MB ruleset?
That's awesome to hear, I'm really happy you are enjoying the game! And yes, all my games will always be soloable. This is always a priority. It's the same game, we're just changing the engine!
