Mob Psycho 100 redraw
To shake off a bit of rust, I redrew a page of a manga book that I had on my desk, Mob Psycho 100 volume 4. This isn't a series known for its super slick art so it's an opportunity to not totally "dispirit" oneself doing a rework (just a little Mob Psycho joke 4 u).
I've posted the original page underneath (which I nicked from a scanlation site rather than try to photograph my book) - the English version uses WHAMM as the sound effect but I am very taken with their SBOMK.
I really enjoy the economy of hasty-looking manga. I'd love to be able to unfreeze enough to go at a project like that. I don't know how to let go of the need to render whole environments, panel after panel, or quite what point I'm making by doing it.

Neat. I'm not at all familiar with the original, but I like the way you added depth in your version, both to the first and third panels.
I love the dynamism of your punch! Even if you sacrificed the "SBOMK".
I didn't find out about the French SBOMK until later, my copy is in English!
You really can't help yourself, can you? That last panel is gorgeous, but far more sophisticated than the original in composition and rendering of the forms.
Yes, it’s more visually sophisticated and a lot more fun to look at! I find the original kinda lumpy and bland.
Love Mob Psycho 100 I'm of the opinion that while the fidelity of ONE's art isn't particularly high, he's very competent in how to make a page POP. I've seen manga with higher fidelity but just very mediocre pages.
I agree. The art borders on slapdash but it has power and excitement.

I love Mob Psycho and I love your art, so I think this redraw is super cool. I like your interpretation of all the background characters. Also seeing the semi-uncommon Allison action shot.
I love drawing action, I'd do it more but it works against you in daily serialisation. Thanks John!
