DEARTH BECOMES PLETHORA
I just had a look for some current things to share with the Patreon and I've got nothing. I'm working on several prospective projects, none of which I can share any of my sketches for. And I can't tell you anything about the story that follows Steeple ahead of time. It would spoil things.
So I've had a look on my backup drive for old artwork lost to time. Enjoy some ancient prints (or roughs - the rough was usually better!) I drew for conventions - most weren't used. They're really weird! I don't remember most of them.
This selection is the tip of the iceberg. Somewhere around 2010 I realised you could sell an A5 print saying something like "I Fart Bats" on it (drawing time: 3 minutes) much more easily than mad images from an esoteric webcomic. And that's how I to all intents and purposes destroyed UK comics conventions.
"Country Pride" (2008)
"Dorothy 2" (2009)
I didn't print this one (I don't think? Maybe I did?), but I do like it.
Kitten Is King (2009)
"Oh Beowulf" (2008)
"Lancaster Prints" (2006)
"Campsite" (2007)
"Snif" (2006)
"I Fart Bats" (2021)

JA's equivalent of "I've forgot more than most people will ever know", but in comic art form. Some beautiful stuff. Although I fart bats is not what one would call beautiful, it is pretty damn funny.
These are gold of course but “I fart bats” is gold with nobs on.
Damn it Allison, where is my "I Fart Bats" t-shirt?
I don't think I've designed a new tshirt (apart from a Bitcoin one I made as a joke) for 7 years!
So jealous of folks who actually have these! Oh Beowulf is brilliant, and I am, at the very least *intrigued* by whatever is going on in Dorothy 2.
For so long I've thought I was the only one who farted bats.
Try to avoid moving on to the rats and cats stage.
I've got the Amy "Lancaster Print" up on my bookshelf, along with all the other John A. books: https://photos.app.goo.gl/7TqZPZBTSQwAQNFp8
I now need some new tees.
Count Slartifartbats: he farts bats!
All beautiful stuff♡. Great Art.
Oh Beowulf is framed on my hall wall right now. Front room gets Esther vs the Kraken and my prized original marker pen Shelley.
I think the real question is, when will I FART BATS be available for purchase, and how many can I buy at one time
I thought I FART BATS was just for illustrative purposes but then I got to the end, and lo... I chuckled.
'Campsite' brought a Proustian rush of nostalgia. Was it really that long ago? I shall have to dig out those little books...
'Dorothy 2' is still one of my faves, but I'm biased in favor of Oz-themed material.
'Oh Beowulf' has been framed on my various walls since 2008. It's one of my favorite pictures and most recently got my 8-year-old to ask about the source material. Upshot: he is pro-dragon, pro-Shelley, thinks Beowulf 'doesn't sound very nice'.
I think it's my favourite print that I've made.
