Mystery friends
I'm currently working on Steeple comics that will run in January 2022 -- don't tell anyone because this could get me kicked out of the Tardy Webcomic Artists' Club. When this story is finished, I'm going to take a break (as you may recall, I don't allow myself a rest very often) then think about what follows. While there are exciting things already in the works on a couple of fronts, I have the opportunity to choose what I do next from a whiteboard that has maybe 4-5 years-worth of story ideas on it for various series.
From the end of Giant Days until now, I've been stuck in a bit of a rut. It's been very hard to live up to the expectations created by a series drawn by geniuses that resonated with a lot of people. Your support has really helped me and I've enjoyed this second webcomics act enormously, making Steeple and the other little series I've done. I'm still very keen to return Lottie to full-time (or even part-time action) and there has been some positive news in that area over the last few weeks, so keep your fingers crossed.

Does this mean more Wicked Things??
Too early to know.
You may have to leave the Tardy Webcomics Club, but you can always hang out with 3-months-ahead David Willis. No wait, he's 4 months ahead. Like you.
"series drawn by geniuses" - maybe, but I love the original artist's artwork more than anyone else's. More, please!
The prospect of part- to full-time action for Lottie is pretty tantalizing! Then again, I love almost everything you've created, so the prospect of part- to full-time action for *anyone* is tantalizing. 5-day-a-week Cattywumpus? A month of Zebus, warrior child? Pre-school antics with the newest generation of Winters and Beckwith-Chilton progeny? Bring it all on!
I would love to see a live-action movie of any of Mr. Alison's comics, or even an animation. As much as I enjoy the dialog, I have a hard time imagining how it would sound live. As an American, lack of familiarity with the regional accent may be part of the problem.
Ooo. I hate what they did to Tintin. None of the accents agree with the ones in our head. Plus, animation is a real time-sink. If JA is doing this, then he won't be doing other stuff. IMHO JA is arguably the finest in the Rubbish Isles today at the union of drawing, characterisation, and dialogue; and we shall get less of that. How about a Radio Show? No visuals, just sound. I expect the JA storyboards have extra dialogues that don't fit in the panels. That way we have the comics and the voices if we want them, and the sound and visuals don't have to fit exactly. If JA approves the voices, and the core dialogue is his, others could do the rest.
And FWIW, while I love Max Sarin's work on Giant Days, your characters always seem most like themselves to me when drawn by John Allison.
Yay! Love your work John, and would love to see more Lottie and Claire! Also the Mildred-goes-to-uni story you've teased a couple times. Or, pretty much anything.
Yay for more Lottie! Your ability to create is astounding and so motivational. I came out of the womb drawing (it was an awkward birth) but the mechanics of having ideas and telling stories with original characters yet elude me.
As someone who has been a fan since the Bobbins days, I have to say that in my layperson's opinion you are producing your best ever work (writing and art) right now. So thanks for it all, and long may it sustainably continue.
I just want to say thank you, that read your comics always makes me feel happy and I love all the characters you've created in these years (yes, even Thompson). Fingers crossed for the future ♡.
You and Tom from Gunnerkrigg are so amazing with the way you have been putting up your fabulous webcomics regularly and for free for so many years.
Tom is an incredibly hardworking person I think!
2 Wicked 2 Furious
>a series drawn by geniuses geniuses, plural; among them an artist who drew chapter 44.5 of said series (the name escapes me at the moment)
I read about that fill-in guy for 44.5 and 48 on Goodreads, apparently he turned the milk sour and made babies cry!
Huzzah!
The Tardy Webcomic Artists' Club will never actually get around to kicking you out, though they *may* draw rude things on your face after you pass out from too many gins at the bar... I suggest carrying wipe-off markers in your pockets as a decoy...
