Mojo magazine illustration
I did the album of the month illustration for the current Mojo magazine (#392 - July 2026). It was very exciting to be asked, as I have been a reader (on and off, but mostly on) for the last 30 years, and a subscriber for the last 10. The drawing was for the album Look For Your Mind by American band the Lemon Twigs. My idea was to do a kind of Milton Glaser thing.
Below is the rough version I sent over. As you can see, it didn't change much. A pleasure to work with reviews ed. Jenny Bulley on this.

Great work. Especially loving the much cheekier monkey in the early draft.
Yes, something of the Planet Of The Apes (1970s) about that fella
"But wait, hear me out; what if Milton Glaser was even *more* awesome?" "What? That's ridiculous. What could be even more awesome than --" *points at Mojo magazine cover from July 2026* "...WHOA."
This is great. It very much catches the Lemon Twigs' 60s vibe. Just out of interest, if you're comfortable with answering, had you had contact with Mojo before or was this a kind of out of the blue thing? Whichever way hoping for more of this kind of thing.
Groovy! I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict more editorial illustration goodies for you and from you in the future…
This is a really great illustration. I might have to check out the band. BTW congrats on the Eisner Award nomination! I'm surprised I haven't seen a mention if it here.
To be honest I didn’t really know what to say haha
Two of my favorite things — a new John Allison jawn and the Lemon Twigs!
Fantastic! Just discovering the band this week, so wonderful timing!
Fab!
