Kill Or Be Quilt: early ideas

Great British Bump Off: Kill Or Be Quilt is imminent, so here are some sketches from the very early stages of working on it in 2022.

Like many things in the "story pool", Kill Or Be Quilt could have been used in another series before it reached its final destination as a Shauna story. Here we see a mystery figure embracing all things quilt. In the bottom left corner, a motif that never made it into the final series, a person sewn into a quilt, hung from the ceiling of a village hall.

For a while, the series was going to be about espionage. Spies. In the image above, I have confidently written that "the quilt contains a QR code". Ideas like this spy theme are great until I have to actually write them and they prove unworkable within my chosen format (mirth based comics). They tend to survive only in miniature, as a component, rather than being the overall theme.

Here are some more general early ideas. The list at the top is me beginning to find my way towards a sort of sense of the narrative. I try not to write too much at the start of the ideas phase - broad strokes, phrases, nothing more.

Unused espionage ideas. I include this page purely because it has an inexplicable picture of Jeremy Clarkson at the bottom.

I ended up having to write this series in its entirety two weeks after having moved house, into a place best summarised as "in crisis". But I will tell you more about how I hammered it into shape... SOON.

No use being coy about the crisis. We know about the layers of (presumably lead-based) paint.

Writing or doing anything while moving makes you a comic book Terminator. You can not be stopped. Bravo!
