Blog: Various Goings-on

Hey folks. I was recently encouraged by a helpful patron to post what I've been doing each month like I used to do here a while back. I figure that's not a bad idea, and maybe some of you will enjoy this harmless ramble on various things I've been doing each month. Feel free to ignore if this doesn't interest you of course.

So, what have I been watching lately?

I picked up Kare Kano again after never fully watching it before. I felt I needed to consume more classic Gainax, and from what little i saw of this show before, I was really really intrigued. Plus the animation is INCREDIBLE. I already understand that the show as famously not able to conclude, but I am enjoying the ride. Its fascinating that you can tell which scenes were directed by the artists who would go on to make FLCL years later, with how the faces are drawn or the movements of characters. I love the tongue-in-cheek direction of a lot of the strange meta sense of humor as well.

As for Youtube specifically:

Holy cow, everyone's talking about it already but wow, the latest TADC was incredible and answered a lot of questions + confirmed many suspicions. I don't think I have much to really add to the conversation, but I just want to say, I'm so glad t be alive in this era where artists like Gooseworx and Joelg and Toby Fox can create such beautiful stories and works of art. I'm very excited for the finale in only 3 months!

What music have I been listening to?

I've been listening to a lot of those various several-hour videos of 2000s DnB while I work lately. I've also been obsessed with the ending theme of an anime called Kimagure Orange Road, which I know nothing about.

Hand Injury Update:

perhaps due to the sudden sharp cold weather at the start of the month, my hands were hurting really bad in an extremely uncomfortable way. It was very hard to deal with, and i mostly had to have my hands wrapped tightly with compression gloves and wrist braces. Thankfully the weather has become more neutral lately so things have gotten better for my hands.
