[Announcement] What’s Next for LT: Exciting News & Pledge Tier Changes

Hey guys!

Over the past few months, you folks have been very vocal about how much you’ve enjoyed the monster fusions we’ve been releasing. We’ve been loving it too, and we want to provide more of what you’ve told us you enjoy: innovative monsters to populate your world and provide a rich ecosystem of interacting flora and fauna that can be harvested and crafted into unique magic items and meals.

Starting in June, we’re shifting our focus. Our monster hunts (after we complete the Zaman’s Guide arc) will have a refined formula focused on rewarding players for their ingenuity ahead of our work on Heliana 2. We’ll be releasing more monster fusions, pushing our creativity by bringing beloved monsters inspired by other IPs to D&D 5e and letting you vote on which monsters we use to make variants, food, and familiars. Lastly, we’re adding the VAULT, a filterable repository of all our magic items, monsters, familiars, and player options (more on this below!)

What does this mean for your pledge?

If you’ve been happy with the content you’ve been receiving over the past months, you’ve no need to change anything! The main thing that’s changing is that we’ll be making way more monster fusions and fewer magic items.

Multiple times a week you’ll receive a monster fusion, including the PDF with lore and statblock, as well as high-resolution art files and bespoke-bordered tokens. At the end of each monster batch (typically six monsters), you’ll get to vote on which monster we make more content for, which might be CR variants, a mythic version, a familiar or something else.

Each month we will update and release the Monster Compendium PDF. This chronological bestiary is crammed with notes and sketches from Heliana, Humperdink, and L’Arsene, and contains more than just monsters. Each entry comes with ‘Extras’: magic items, spells, feats, or player options inspired by the monster.

Grandfathered Access. We’re grandfathering access to the ~2,000 legacy magic items for all current $5 Lutecia’s Loot patrons. With extras moving to the $10 tier, new patrons will only get access to the legacy magic items in the $10 L’Arsene’s Archives tier, but not you folks. For as long as you’re patrons, you’ll get access to the Legacy Item Compendium as well as all 2,000 items on the VAULT. 

The VAULT

The VAULT nears Beta testing! This filterable database makes finding the Loot Tavern content you want super easy. Looking for a very rare halberd to hide in a treasure hoard for your polearm master Fighter? Quickly find the options available, as well as the components needed to craft it! Curious about what you can make with the Pouch of Dragon Scales you just harvested? Select them in the harvesting components and see all the options laid out before you, (as well as the publication(s) in which the items appear).

Unlocked Convenience. One of the best things about the VAULT is that, once you unlock content (whether it’s through a purchase on the webstore or by being a patron during the month of publication), you ALWAYS have that content unlocked on the VAULT. Even more conveniently, you can download unlocked content from the VAULT.  Decided your Fighter will like the Green Reaper halberd in the next dragon hoard? Download the hunt it comes from (Leaf or Death) with a single click.

How Does VAULT Access Work? Every patron gets content on the VAULT! As a current patreon you get access to all the content for your tier, regardless of when it was released. That means the new $5 tier, Humperdink's Habitarium, gets access to ALL the monster fusions ever released, and the $10 tier, L'arsene's Archives, gets access to ALL the extras. But what if you leave the Patreon? Fear not! Anything that was released in the months you were a patron is unlocked for you forever. You’ll always retain VAULT access to the content you helped patronise.

Tier Changes in Detail

These changes take effect on June 1st. This graphic summarises the updated pledges.

Humperdink’s Habitarium - $5 tier - NEW TIER

• Monster Fusions: at least 10 monsters each month, ready for your 5e world. This includes a PDF (with lore, annotations, and statblock), high-res art, and a bespoke-bordered monster token.

• The new poll is a biweekly Variant Monster Poll where you can decide which published monster receives a new variant.

• Regular content released during your month of support is forever saved on the VAULT for you.

Lutecia’s Loot - $5 tier - Unpublished

• You’ll get everything that the new Humperdink’s Habitarium tier gets!

• Your tier won’t be visible anymore, but don’t worry! You’ll still keep access to everything you’ve already got – the Legacy Magic Items, Legacy Tarot Cards, and Legacy Bonus Content – for as long as you maintain your pledge.

L’Arsene’s Archives - $10 tier - Changes & New Content

• You’ll get everything that the new Humperdink’s Habitarium tier gets!

• Instead of magic items on the regular, they will now be Monster Fusions: a monster and stat block ready for your 5e world. You’ll still get high-res art, PDFs, JPEGs, etc. In addition, you’ll get the monsters’ Extra Content, such as magic items, spells, and player options.

• The Items Compendium will be discontinued and replaced with a similar compendium for the monsters. You’ll still have legacy access to the old Compendium.

• Foundry VTT Packs - After each batch (typically 6 monsters and 6 items), we’ll compile them into a Foundry VTT module for you to enjoy! These are typically released ~1 month after the batch is complete.

• Regular content released during your month of support is forever saved on the VAULT for you. You’ll also have temporary access to regular content outside your month of support.

Heliana’s Hunts - $15 tier - Changes & New Content

• This tier receives the changes listed in the $10 Tier. You won’t lose anything else!

• New! You’ll get additional VAULT functionality that allows you to cross-reference content. You’ll get to know where a piece of content was published and have easy links to all other content it appears in.

Tavern Titans - $25 tier - All New Content!

• This tier receives the changes listed in the $10 and $15 Tier. You won’t lose anything else!

What Should I Do?

This is a big change! As Loot Tavern grows and evolves, we want to do things that are both useful for you and that we find fun and exciting. Do what’s best for you. We understand if fewer items is not what you originally signed up for and it’s alright to cancel your pledge. We also know that times are tough right now, so please don’t feel obligated to renew if you are financially unable to! Thank you for sticking with Loot Tavern through all these years. Your love and support is more than enough.

What’s Next?

The future of Loot Tavern is exciting. We’re excited for the next Monster theme and we’ve got some potentially big news on the horizon. Also thank you once more for making Zaman’s Guide possible. Part of this restructuring allows us to make this book the best it can possibly be. Stay tuned!
