Lok-Badar Dwarves remake in April?
Hello friends, Adventurers and Merchants!
As some of you might now, April 6th is my birthday and I love to make Dwarves for that month!
But why am I sculpting from scratch some of my earliest characters?
The original Dwarven Defender set, also called Lok-Badar Defender Set (June 2019) contains some of my earliest sculpts, some made in 2015.
Back in time I had less experience and 3d printers were not advanced as today.
The Set didn't even have a cavalry unit!
THE DWARVES OF SKUTAGAARD
On April 2022, the Dwarven Mountaineers set a new standard of quality for Artisan Guild Dwarves. I spent tons of time sketching and researching on how to make the dwarves shine, I'm truly in love with that set!
It depicted hunters and gatherers of a clan of Dwarves living in Skutagaard, the Frozen lands in Mundus. With these top quality dwarves using spears, axes and bows in leather armors available for printing and as units for GUILDS, I started to craving some heavy armored ones.

I wanted to make equally epic dwarves on heavy armors.
So why not remake my earliest dwarves from scratch?
It’s the perfect opportunity to reenvision the defenders of Lok-Badar by sculpting them from zero.

It's time for me to get back in the forge to finish what's left for the next set :)

I just purchased the older set of the Oni and the Ogre Marauders, Id love to see you revisit those and expand them especially the Oni, There could me some cool Asian dragon for them to ride on. The supports for the original set should be reworked too, The early supports arent the best. The supports now are fantastic!
Fantasy Football hands?
Will there be updated beer mug options for hands? I'm doing a squad of dwarves armed with weapons and beer and would love a new mug to sprinkle into the mix.

Uuh! 6th of april! What a nice birthday to have ;) Really looking forward to heavy armored dwarves. 2 of my co-players are playing heavy armored dwarves and need some cool models to set them apart from the 100+ dwarven army I already have. So looking forward to this!

May I give a suggestion for one of the future sets? I would really love if you could make Genasi (half-elementals). It could be one set with a mix of all 4 elements, or if you are feeling particularly daring, you could make 4 sets with one element each. In any case, I love your work, and I am subscribed to everything you make regardless.
These look great and can’t wait. I was thinking about races you haven’t done or revisited … and initially I thought you’d covered them all. But came up with a few ideas (and I know ideas are cheap 3D modelling skill isn’t ;) Anyway a few random ideas with zero expectation: * Dark Dwarves!!!!! Surely they’re not all lawful * Halflings (actually no thanks) * Humans - what about a mixed update for thieves, fighters, rangers, clerics? * Githyanki - for me? Yes! For everyone.. not sure * Draconians - Dragonborn with wings * Dark Elves - love a new take on Drow (I like the inquisition too) … I’d like to see more Elric of Menibone or maybe more Lloth spiders * Star Frontiers or Spell Jammer or DragonLance homage set? Or * or a homage to Conan or Faffhrd and the Grey Mouser or even Heroes of Fantasy 10 men and women and hamsters of fantasy? (I doubt would fit with your world) * Myconids - such Fungi ….s * Chaos mutants - because * More Manticors more Displacer Beasts please
I say yes halflings but more Athasian style halflings rather than more hobbits. Bring on the short mountain forest cannibals. I could go for some Gith options as well. Be they -yanky, -zerai, -pirate, or Athasion or more likely a mix that could be used for all.

NGL, I was looking through the back catalogue and was thinking that I didn't need to buy the original set because the newer one is so much better. Good to know I'll be getting an upgraded version.
So much personality in those griffins' expressions! I like that there's a grounded one too, good variety.

"Merged" options would be cool. I have been debating moving to a 15mm gaming scale (haven't test printed this idea yet) and am thinking that those parts will be small/"fun" to assemble. Great stuff here.
To print them at 10 or 15mm you're going to have to redo the supports anyway, so just put the bodies and hands together in your slicer and export them as one STL, then scale them down and do the new supports. Conveniently, the unsupported models come with the pieces all oriented correctly, so this is easy and fast to do.

I am in need of dwarves! I am very happy with this plan. Please make some hammers for the modular dwarves and please don't make them comically huge! The hammers you have previously modeled are great looking! Happy early Birthday!
I think making a set to complement your old dwarves would be better than remaking them. I still have your old dwarves, would be nice to be able to use them together with the new ones.
You can use them togheter, being totally new sculpts they will work fine mixed togheter :)

Oh boi, I absolutely love your sets but I am especially a big fan of your dwarves can't wait to print and paint 'em.
Absolutely awesome !!! I loved the defenders, the oath breakers and especially the mountaineers, since the later models are a little bit more beefy. However, with heavy armor it would be great to see some hefty pole axes and halberds, and maybe some heavy X-Bows. You know, it's about compensating the reach deficit.

I love that new female one. More variation is always great for avoiding clone trooper armies. Will there be a similar male to her? Also maybe some kind of roost terrain, like a [Dwarven Nesting Box] type thing?
