Fun Times in Wonderland

Hey there, guys and gals! Newman here.

It's 15:20 (or 3:20PM for you US savages) and I woke up 3 hours ago. Here's why: I had some fun illustrations prepared for your monthly Goodie Pack, just had to finish the last one. I decided to take a break and watch some Twin Peaks (I'm rewatching it because I heard season 3 is great. First two seasons are SO good, stop wasting you time with reality shows and go watch this!). I saved my work, I exported some jpgs. All good so far. Standard procedure.

And yet, something about disconnecting my external work HD and plugging my games (lately Alan Wake 2's DLC) and shows (again, Twin Peaks) HD made my PC have a digital stroke. For some reason, when I went back to my work, 2 of the jpgs were corrupted (not that weird) and the other 2 were FOR NO REASON images from another project I'm working on. Images I haven't used in weeks too. Welp. No worries, I have the PSD and I can-

Opening the PSD shows a single image that I used as style reference of that other project (file size is much too big for only having that, but we are entering Twin Peaks Season 2 territory here so all logic is to be discarded if we want to crack the case) ,one I haven't even opened in months.

Just that. No ink, no color, no layers, folders... nothing. I spent yesterday using different recovery programs with the help of a friend (Agent Rosenfield type, much nicer fellow though), to no avail. All we could get was the file you see above. It shows the layer and folder structure of the PSD but the illustrations are gone, replaced by that weird static. A sort of Hiss, if you will. Wink, wink.

So yeah, I have to start the Goodie Pack again from scratch. It's all gone. My illustrations are now dancing with the little dude in the nexus between worlds that is the red curtain smoking room. Or perhaps they rented a room at the Oceanview Hotel and are using the rule of three to travel the multiverse. I wish them well.

Just one of those things I guess. I will share the jpgs on Discord so you can experience a bit of the bafflement as well. Maybe shed a bit of light on the case, or share your digital horror stories with me. Yep, Goodie Pack will be late this month, but I'm pushing myself to finish it as soon as I can. I'm taking time off work so I can do it, so you can expect it to be done this Sunday, Monday at the very latest.
