Progress Report APRIL 2024
Hey there, Patreon people! Newman here with a one day delayed Progress Report. I know, I suck.
The reason: Absolutely insane month on all accounts. Here's an account of most of the shit that has happened/has been worked on:
I've been pretty down. One of the issues with taking this bloody long to release a build is that you want it to be so worth the wait (even when you know it won't happen because it's been THAT long) that you are almost afraid to work on it.
I have nevertheless set up a "fuck the big picture, just focus on the next step" system and worked on it. More on that later.
I finally gave up and installed Win 11, and my TOTALLY LEGAL roster of drawing and painting software stopped letting me save. Lost a couple of days fixing it. It was ok yesterday. The issue is back today. Imagine there's a NEW cool Progress Report image above (the one that's there is the old one for reference, I couldn't save the new one) with bits of improvement here and there and that's about it. I'll replace it tomorrow once I either figure out what the hell, or finally give up and buy the damn thing. AGAIN, I mean. Ahem.
My GFs dog got poisoned by some heartless asshole, and whenever we scheduled or rescheduled to see one another (she lives in a nearby city to mine) I had to organize around that (work meetings posponed, work on hold, that kinda stuff). So far that hasn't happened, and we don't know if her dog is going to be ok. Some people are fucking dicks.
There has been a totally avoidable series of misunderstandings in my other job (the less fun, full of meetings one) on which one of the best team members from my side of the team was blamed for stuff that was never his responsibility to begin with but the bosses were convinced it was (while the real culprit did not only not admit he was "the guy" but actually blamed my mate as well... just beautiful stuff) That whole thing has culminated in a serious talk in which we have step by step and with proof proven we were in the right, they were mistaken. That has taken its toll, but at least now we know we have to be thorough and keep a record of all communication. Sucks, but it is what it is. Thankfully, I had previous experience with things like this and I KNEW I could help mediate. Let's move forward.
I have had to test the game again from scratch. Which helped in some ways, but it's taken time. Dialog was improved, a question that I never quite liked the answer to (Why did Gwen REALLY asked Ben/Albedo to diddle her?) was finally answered is a satisfactory way. I also added expressions to new dialog (0.06 stuff, yeah!)
Aka and I discussed improvements to the combat system, including a Paper Mario-like bonus gimmick thing for Ultimate Aliens (yes, those will appear in the game :) ) that doesn't mean you can fail or feel unfair, but adds a small bonus if timed right. This (together with the AUTO combat button for lower-level enemies) makes combat less repetitive later on in the game. I researched high and low for cool RPG combat systems until I was satisfied with this. It isn't intrusive, has a neat bonus that can be a godsend in tense situations, but the way I see the system now, it shouldn't take too much time or feel like a damn QTE.
I've also worked on some scene sketches, some scenes that needed re-ordering later on in the game, and lost my mind one day with the last scene in the game. Had to scratch most of it, but at least now I know EXACTLY what's going to happen and in which order. It's an important scene, had to be done. Oh, and I made a couple of SFX thingies.
And that's it. At least that's all I can say without going into task organization software and ADHD medication, hyperfocus and burnout. For that kinda stuff I'll be an open book on Discord, ask away, just don't want to bore you to death here.
The main thing that has meant we still don't have a 0.06 this month was... me. No other way around it. Aka is waiting for me to add dialog and scenes right now. BUT. And it is a big butt! I've made progress! I am really happy about the changes I'm making to my life, my habits, and what it all means for my NSFW projects you are helping make a reality. I have cut my gaming hours, lift weighs almost every morning, eat less compulsively, stress less (most days), use Notion and my notebooks every day so I'm sure I will remember stuff, and function much better.
Things that used to make me want to hide under a rock (paperwork, setting appointments, going to appointments, forgetting stuff (including some of the aforementioned appointments), dealing with frustration and imposter syndrome, patiently explaining the truth to people who don't want to hear it even when it's staring them in the face...), now are bad moments I am proud to be able to put up with. This whole crap is easier to understand if you are neurodivergent and have spent most of your life undiagnosed, but man. Listen. It's good to know why I couldn't understand why my brain worked like it did for all those years. And so awesome to know that I now can, and will get better and better at.
So, here's hoping you don't decide now's the perfect time to bail, right? XD It would really suck after all the work, but you know what? it wouldn't change the fact that this game's getting done. Mental roadblocks can go fuck themselves.
To both believers and cynics, thanks again. You both are the reason Ben X lives on.

I gotta know... is this game dead? Like, at this point, I don't care about polish. Honwatly, as Someone with ADHD nad OCD, I get a project not feeling up to your standards, but at some point, you have to look at what you've made and say, it's good enough. There is an addage out there... "Movies aren't finished, they're abandoned." It means there will ALWAYS be something you could tweak to make it better. There's always a joke to improve, a line to rewrite, a scene to edit... but eventually, you have to say, "it's good enough" and release it, or you never will. I love your work guys, I do. And I know it's not your intention, but I'm starting to feel strung along. I'll honestly take a buggy, half-complete mess over nothing at this point. I'm not trying to be harsh, or critical. I'm just trying to be honest. You guys are great. Don't forget that.

Have u ever been to tired to not do anything because of work?! Ever since I started working everyday, I barely have time to focus on stuff I enjoy and only on stuff I have to do. Hardly sleep ever, and that's not including other personal problems in life. Everyone has issues and problems in life and it makes it hard to go through life like normal whilst each person has their own process to go trhough it. Some people has it easy, others hard. Some have lots of help, Some almost none.
This game is already abandoned, it cannot be that in 3 years there has not been any update and there are still those who swallow his update nonsense, the thing is simple as long as there are fools willing to swallow his nonsense and continue giving him money for nothing, he will not stop to deceive them.
Think what you want, but I have never deceived ANYONE. I have always been honest withy life, the lack of updates, and why I haven't been able to work on Ben X, mate. People don't pay me money in exchange of a game, by the way. They do it because they know I'll keep working on a free game that I love no matter what shit has happened to me. I have encouraged people who couldn't support me not to. I give all of the Goodie Packs to anyone who gives me 1 dollar, no matter how long they've been a Patreon. Think what you want. But don't call people who have rewarded my honesty with their help "fools". That, I won't laugh about.
Yall need to cut Newman some slack he's doing the best he can. Be patient. I'm sure once Ben x releases it would have been worth the wait. Take your time man!

I've had to work on other stuff to make ends meet, Devil. I would prefer to just do Ben X, but that's life. The game is going to be finished, I'm working on it right now. But I never give release dates, because I don't know when I am going to have to work on something else.
When will New update public release coming
I'm not going to say something long winded, just take your time so your both mentally and physically ready for a project because a sick and sad producer almost always makes bad work, while a happy and healthy producer usually makes good to divine work

Hey first time ever posting. Happy to be a patron and helping with your work. Loving the game and i make it a game to spot changed when you do updates lol. Wish I could give more but just like you the rest of life keeps going on around us.
GOD DAAMN- first all what is with people? like does someone have a vendetta against dogs or something to the point where they poison your gf dog like- mate just because some people dont like dogs doesnt mean you should poison other peoples pets- its like when a homeless and his pet rabbit- the rabbit got forcibly taken by the homeless dude and throwing into the fuckin lake (luckily the dude got arrested and the rabbit was saved) people should just stay away from other people animals if they dont like animal's- sucks about your co-worker mate getting blamed because of some other jackass but at least you now know to take proof of your communications and such something like that can never happened again- hopefully you can find the issue with your pc and hopefully it stops being a toootal bitch- hopefully you wont try to rush your games and to make sure you are staying healthy, its good that you are exercising

Hey Newman, I'm here this time to ask you some questions and give you some ideas for future updates, I hope you like it, and I'm sorry if you've already answered any of them before in another post of yours, I didn't see it. 1st: What motivated you to make this Game? Like, what made you think about developing a +18 game after Ben 10, I'm not judging, far from it, you and Akanoes are doing an incredible job so far, it's just a curiosity about how it all happened.2nd: In this update, will you add a gallery of images/scenes so players can review the "fun" scenes that cannot be repeated, such as the first Encantrix scene? And another thing, do you intend to redo the scenes, only fully animated this time? 3rd: Do you plan to hire some developers/artists/Designers to help you with the game, or pay some Free-lancers for some parts you need? Another thing is, if you have ever thought about collaborating with other people who make +18 games on Patreon, I think that this way your game will have more engagement, and you will have more supporters who can help you financially, and among other things, and something what I would love to see, is the game having several official translations for players, I know that the game reached several people, namely: Portuguese, Brazilians, Russians, and among others, the question is, it would be incredible to see how far the game still goes can be achieved by having the translation of several countries in the game. 4th: It's about Gwen, I know you're very busy, but will we see the Anodite version of her? If so, will it be the Alien Force/Supremacy one, or the Omniverse one? And would she appear in cutscenes, could we use her in battles, or even in the "spicy" parts? And with that, comes another question.5th: Which girls do you intend to add to your game? For example, Ben's romantic partners, like Kai Green and Ester, or Ben's other two cousins, Sunny and Lucy Mann, after all, if we can have Gwen, we can have Ben's other two cousins too haha, or someone Ben has already fallen in love with, like Drew Saturday, or the two princesses, Attea, and Looma Red Wind, I say this because Ben was already engaged to Looma thanks to Kevin, and he managed to charm her Attea in the invasion she made on Earth, and as Albedo is not stupid or anything, unlike Ben, I believe he would explore the idea of having them in his hands to have armies, and technology to carry out his plans, and speaking of plans, the two girls that I believe Albedo would have his eye on, would be Eunice and Myaxx, as they are both Azimuth's assistants, and besides, they have great information that could help Albedo, of course they wouldn't help Albedo , but "Ben" yes, and for that, they would have two forms, Eunice, because she is the Unitrix, Albedo could capture her and Reprogram her, to serve him, and/or modify her to be the way the player wants/would like to have it, and thus Albedo will be able to have access to the Codon Chain that only Eunice and Azimuth have access to, if it exists in their game, and on the other hand, in relation to Myaxx, the case could be that she appeared on Earth, and Albedo saw her, he would be angry with her, since they both have a past, and wanting to take revenge, and show that he is the superior, he captures her, and tries to make her a slave, corrupting her, hypnotizing her until she submits to him, or something like that, so Albedo would have not just one, but the two people closest to Azimuth, and because they are both intelligent, they will make Albedo's life easier to achieve everything he wants. 6th: And the last one is, do you intend to put Potis Altiare in the game? Since Albedo, until the exact moment I played, was unable to fix the Clock, perhaps he could look for alternative ways to try to solve his problems, and therefore, if he had Eunice, he would send her to Galvan Mark II , looking for something that could help him, and with that, he would find out about Potis Altiare and then he would look for the pieces, this could be a bit of a secondary mission for albedo, which could or could not, change the ending of History a little, After all, it would be cool to see him using this artifact in the story, or in Bosses, or in everyday fights, to give an advantage, or make the player's life easier, here's a tip.I know I wrote a lot of things, and maybe you don't even see Newman, but I want to contribute what I can, I'm a non-Subscriber member, so I'm out of almost everything you post, because I don't have the financial means to help you raise this game, that's why I can only comment on this type of post, so I'll try to contribute in other ways, with ideas for example, some of them will actually be added to the game, or maybe never, but I'll do my part, and share this with you, I hope you like it, as it was thought with care.
