Sad news about my Grandma.

My Grandma has been suffering from dementia for a while now. She had a fall in the middle of the night a few days ago and landed on her face. The hospice doctors say it's pushed her condition into the final stages.

She is refusing to eat anything when she comes out of the morphine stupor they have to keep her in for the pain. They haven't given an exact time frame, but if they can't get her to eat, it's likely going to be less than a week. My mother won't leave her side because she wants to be there for what looks like the inevitable end.

She is 89 and has not been herself for a few years now, so maybe this is for the best, but my family is a wreck over it, because we are all very close to her.

I'm trying to push through with game development as much as I can. I've finished almost all of the first day of the update apart from a few animations and a few renders. But it's really hard at the moment.

If she does end up passing I'm going to obviously need to take a few days to be there for my Mom and family, and to pay my respects. There is nothing graceful about aging, at least not at the end of life. Anyway, just felt I needed to let you guys know about the situation.

As I said I'm still working, It just feels like when I'm doing it my mind is in two places at the moment. So, I appreciate you bearing with me through this. If this update ends up taking a little longer to get out, or I don't update a WT or mod right away, that's why.

I'll give you guys more information as I get it myself. I hope beyond hope, the doctors are wrong and she comes back, but that's honestly probably selfish of me at this point.

Just got a text from Mom. The nurse was in and said my Grandma will likely pass in the next 24 hours due to her breathing rate.

I hope so too, glad hear yours go better. Still it's horrible thing when they don't know who you are anymore. I understand that and empathize.

My Dad just got back from visiting and getting some food. He said her BP was way down and her heart rate was down to 40bpm. So, it doesn't seem like she's gonna come out of it, and he thinks it won't be long now. Idk what to think myself. I just hope she's not in pain.

Sad, sad, very sad my friend, you do what you have to do and fuck the rest, life is very fragile, especially when you get older, take care of the familly and hoping to hear from you again.

Mine has been in a memory care unit for a few years, but originally it was for my Grandpa, but believe it or not they both suffer/suffered from similar conditions. He had something called dewy body disease, which is a little different, and we lost him a couple of years ago. She's gone downhill ever since, but not as bad as in the last four months, and this fall has pretty much done her in. Thanks for your supportive words.

Sorry for the unexpected acceleration of her condition. Praying for fair winds and smooth seas for her in her transition. Take the time you need to ensure your family is taken care of.

You do what you need to do and we will wait. I know how you feel, as my mother will call me and then call back ten minutes later forgetting she just called. She forgets she doesn't have a license and wants to drive her car across country. It doesn't help that my sister who lived with her passed away two weeks ago. We are looking for a facility to place her for her own safety. So it's a pain dealing with the elderly, but it's something we have to do in life.
