Important announcement regarding my situation and that of my country, Venezuela

On January 3rd, in the early morning, the United States carried out a military attack on the country and captured the drug-trafficking dictator Nicolás Maduro (illegitimate President of Venezuela).

I am fine, I am safe, and I have already taken precautions to ensure my safety at home.

For those who probably don't understand why this happened, here is a brief explanation.

Venezuela has been under a communist dictatorship for 26 years, a dictatorship that has hijacked the country. This dictatorship has stolen, expropriated, and bankrupted all private and foreign companies (as well as small businesses). They have created a system of terror and repression that spies on, kidnaps, tortures, and murders anyone who opposes them. They have created a state of government sustained by drug trafficking and human trafficking. They have destroyed the public health and education systems; in Venezuela, you go to a public hospital and there is nothing to treat illnesses. This dictatorship has forced 8 million people to flee the country and plunged 90% of the population into extreme poverty.

For 26 years, there have been attempts to end this dictatorship legally and peacefully, through agreements and presidential elections, but nothing has worked. Presidential elections were held in 2024, which Nicolás Maduro lost, and he decided to cling to power and assassinate anyone who opposed him. After 26 years in which all peaceful means to escape this situation were exhausted, a US intervention was chosen.

Everyone in Venezuela is aware that a military intervention is not a pleasant thing and that the price to pay the United States will not be cheap. But after living so many years in misery and repression, all Venezuelans are willing to pay whatever it takes to be free.

Many say, "The United States did it to steal our oil." This dictatorship has been stealing our oil since 1999. Nicolás Maduro trades oil with Russia and China for weapons to control the country, leaving nothing for Venezuela. You can investigate how Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world and yet an ordinary Venezuelan has to wait in line for six to eight hours to fill their car's tank.

In a country where a dictatorship has stolen everything, we have nothing left to lose. Since this dictatorship began, we have no gasoline, gas, oil, food, water, electricity, money, freedom of expression, medical supplies, security, or peace. And this seems to be the beginning of a new Venezuela. The future is uncertain, but anything is better than living under a communist, terrorist, and drug-trafficking dictatorship.

This is a brief summary of what has happened in my country. I have many tragic stories about how I've lived and the injustices I've suffered, and if I were to describe in detail how this country works and what the Maduro government has done, we could be talking for a whole week.

I will continue posting content as usual unless something happens that cuts off the electricity or internet in my city, or the government imprisons me for speaking about the situation in the country. They've already captured Nicolás Maduro, the leader of the criminal gang, but there are still many rats to be caught.

I hope that things go well for you. As a US citizen subject to the whims of a sociopath with dementia- who operates outside the law-, I cannot feel that any of this will go well, unless it is yet another whim, that Trump quickly loses interest in and abandons, leaving you all finally without a dictator and relying on your own devices. It seems from here that though the military intervention was long planned, that the idea of the US taking over your governance was one of his whims, and the people here in the US will not stand for it. I hope that you can stay safe, have access to what you need and can organize for safety and rebuilding with your neighbors and friends. We really, really wish you well.

I have faith that this won't end in failure or a worse situation; anything is better than living under Nicolás Maduro's regime (and that's no exaggeration). Venezuela is not like countries such as Iraq; Venezuela isn't dominated by various terrorist and extremist groups like Iraq. In Venezuela's case, Nicolás Maduro's government not only expropriated businesses and companies, but also took total control of the mafias and drug traffickers. It's no exaggeration to say that Nicolás Maduro and his entourage control the entire country; they control all organized crime in every province, city, and town. Nicolás Maduro and his drug trafficking group, the Cartel of the Suns, are the only terrorist group that controls the entire country. The other point is that Donald Trump is interested in recovering the oil facilities that were stolen by this dictatorship. Before Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro ruined the country, PDVSA, the state-owned oil company responsible for extracting and refining oil, operated with US and European capital in collaboration with the Venezuelan government, which allowed Venezuela to be a wealthy nation. But when this dictatorship began, the government decided to seize all the oil facilities built by the United States and other companies. For example, Kellogg's, the company that makes cornflakes, was stolen by the dictatorship. All foreign facilities and companies were looted, their employees fired, and imprisoned. Everything in Venezuela is controlled by the Nicolás Maduro dictatorship, from what we eat to what we see on the news.
