Suggest a Christmas-themed episode!

Heya boyos!
Suggest a *CHRISTMAS THEMED* wrestling show to review for the Christmas episode?

Pls include why, e.g. Xmas '97 RAW because Austin stuns Santa! If you see a show you like in the comments, pls heart "♥️" it so i know you’re interested in that show too :)

[edited for clarity - it has to be the Christmas edition of the show, eg TNA Xmas iMPACT 2007]

Just wanted to ask this in a separate post, you can see our latest November update here :) of these suggestions we'll make a shortlist and then get everyone to vote on it in a few days!

btw thanks so much for your lovely words about the God of War Deep Dive, it's the best received of all our videogame vids which is awesome!

Also I've had a few peeps ask about Geansais, we're just waiting for them to arrive before launching the Xmas store!

See ya in the funny pages 🙂

Love, Jay 💚

I'm going to think outside the box and go with ECW Massacre on 34th Street 2000. It's the second-to-last ECW pay-per-view and was considered an entertaining show considering the company was close to death. Either that or WCW Starrcade 1997, which was the beginning of the end for WCW with Cunt Hogan once again at his cuntieness.

ooh any great/fun bollocks matches on it?

I'm pulling for The Big Show Show's Christmas Episode. It just feels like someone ought to watch it at some point.

I know, I saw that you specifically said has to be xmas themed, and there's lots of awesome suggestions for that. But the Curb Your Enthusiasm-type 'Topsy Turvy that muthafucka' in me suggests Polynesian Pro's "A Hot Summer Night". Summer at Christmas, if you will. Some old school bollocks but mainly just a show of legends (Andre, Flair, Inoki, Dusty, Bruiser Brody etc). Could be fun to Aloha in December!!!

I have some suggestions: The Miracle on 34th Street Fight between John Cena and Alberto Del Rio. The Good Santa vs. Bad Santa match with Mark Henry vs. Damian Sandow. The 1996 movie Santa With Muscles (great crossover opportunity with Allison and Phelan).

S

Christmas themed - November 29, 2011 edition of Smackdown. Hornswoggle wins a battle royal to earn a wish from Santa. He asks Santa (Mick Foley) for the ability to speak. Also includes the Miracle on 34th Street Fight, and Brie Bella grabbing the mistletoe to win the opportunity to give a kiss to the superstar of her choice.

The Raw where Alberto ran Santa over.

As a crazy-ass curveball, how about the RAW where a Face Del Rio ran over Santa Claus?

R
Retrospecticus · November 9, 2022

I think it was the Christmas 2001 Raw where Flair and McMahon had their own good guy/bad guy Christmas parties - so that one. Plenty of just-post-Attitude Era material to discuss/condemn 😂

Are they new designs for the holiday sweaters or the same one from last year?

Same as last year - they sold out quite fast so giving others the chance to nab one!

Can you review an album review? WCW in 1996 this was in support of the WCW Christmas brawl tour in Germany . My boy is on the front cover https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M1NiKQD7fqo/XOgvdn9bbnI/AAAAAAAALm4/T6HbxVLTp4weLerBsiNhVgym5xBx2raMwCLcBGAs/s1600/wcw_christmasbrawl1996_albumreview.jpg

Throwing out RAW from Christmas Day 2000. Mainly because Kurt Angle brings out his family for a promo that's just the right kind of Cheesy

The Christmas Raws where Santino was going to reveal "the truth about Santa" in 2009 i think, or the one where Del Rio runs Santa over (2012?) both primo bollix

J

Checked out a list of christmas moments in WWE and apparently there was a Kurt Angle vs Santa match at Armageddon 2004?! Book it!

C

It'd take a subscription admittedly, but Eve's "let's get shit faced and scream into the void" features your girls Debbie Keitel and Valkyrie in the main event. It's from December 2019 and is set just after the general election, hence the name. There's a spot in the main event that sounds good in theory, but afterwards both of the woke queens said that they'd rather take a chop from Walter than ever do again. https://youtu.be/-25TEklr2Mo

O
OSW Review · November 9, 2022

Sorry guys I should've been clearer - I mean a *CHRISTMAS-THEMED* wrestling show, eg Xmas 97 RAW, Christmas 1990 Prime Time Wrestling, TNA iMPACT Christmas 2007. The show itself has to be the Xmas-themed!

Summerslam 2003 and I’ll tell you why: what is the best Christmas present ever? A bicycle. And what do you need to wear when you’re riding your bicycle? BICYCLE SHORTS! What better way to spend Christmas than listening to OSW give out about bicycle shorts Triple H burying Goldberg in the main event.

J
Jakob Nelson · November 9, 2022

If we can offer up a non-holiday themed episode, then I think it's time to pay off years of build and do the episode of Raw where Vince gets crushed by the scaffolding to end Million Dollar Mania. I can't think of a better Christmas gift than 30 minutes of hot dogging on that segment.

L
Liam · November 9, 2022

Someone has already mentioned it but Raw on December 20 1999 has a big christmas theme to it and it's right at the start of the mcmahon helmsley era which you's haven't really covered yet. Plus prime attitude era bollocks as wwe are still trying stupid things just after russo left like mae young's pregnancy and even worse a new years baby title run. Honorable mention to austin stunning santa episode of raw but the raw in 1999 will have people like Kurt angle and is in a weird period of time as they are still car crash tv without russo just before the excellent 2000 run. Thanks and keep up the great work Jay and the boys

In Your House 5: Seasons Beatings. 1995 bollix, King Mabel and Sir Mo, Balls Mahoney dressed as Santa beats up Savio Vega, Hog Pen match, loads of ‘WHAT A MANEUVER’ from Vince, really good bloodbath Bret/Davey main event.

2001 Xmas Eve Raw - tajiri claus VS bubba Claus, loads of gimmick bouts and wrestling bollocks!

A
Andrew · November 9, 2022

If we're only going with Christmas-specific shows, then I'd go with the nWo Nitro (Dec 22, 1997). If we can suggest *any* show, then I'd love for you guys to tackle Million Dollar Mania - not only because of the Vince stuff, it's also a draft episode so you guys could do a draft retrospective; plus, you guys haven't covered the ruthless aggression era with the exception of a few episodes in the ECW arc.

C
Chris Robson · November 9, 2022

It has to be the December 19th 1992 episode of Superstars. There's a classic Doink Brah moment. A legendary jobber called Richard Myers with the mullet to end all mullets and The Bushwhackers promise to lick everyone's children for Christmas! Oh and there's a Seasons Greetings message from all the Superstars with Bret and yes you guessed it.....Tatanka front & centre!!!!! Do it lads

B

It may just be the recency bias, but Raw 97 where Austin stuns Santa. I was 13 when I saw it on tv and it made my little teen-angsty Texas heart so happy at the time.

2001. Dueling Christmas parties. Mainly so I can hear my favorite boys discuss the Invasion era some more. <3

RAW 12/25/17 (The infamous episode where WWE made their wrestlers and staff work a LIVE episode on Christmas Day for some ungodly reason.) Or RAW 12/24/12 (The non-canon cartoonish episode where Mick Foley-I mean SANTA CLAUS was run over by Alberto Del Rio, a noted prick. John Cena screaming “SANTA” like it’s the Second Coming of Christ. A Hilarious Miracle on 34th Street Fight between Del Rio and Cena. Sheamus and Big Show having an AMAZING Lumberjack match. And FINALLY, THE HORRIBLE/BRILLIANT WWE CHRISTMAS SONG “Ring the Bell.” Watch it lads. It’s so cringe and I love it.)

J
James Alexander · November 9, 2022

I can't remember if you've covered this already as I've taken far too many chair shots to the head, but if not... how about a Xanta Claus 'arc'? And by arc, I mean In Your House 5: Seasons Beatings, and the follow-up RAW - perfect length (squeezy noise) for a festive ep!

B

D
Daniel · November 9, 2022

December 21, 1998 Raw. Complete with HBK rocking a Santa hat. Also Brisco and Patterson are desperate to keep their Christmas bonus. Would be great to see you guys do more attitude era stuff. Brucie bonus for Jay, it contains a Steve Blackman match.

J
Joey · November 9, 2022

I feel like the very first Tribute to the Troops show in 2003, Christmas in Baghdad, could go for a closer look. There's a lot of thorny real world history around it so it might be hard to make it funny...but if you're up to the challenge, I think you can make something great out of reviewing it.

J
James Cronin · November 9, 2022

One of the many WCCW Christmas Star Wars shows. V1 and Jay will ove it and OOC will hate it. Lots of the Von Erichs ahead of the Zac Efron, MJF film. Which will definitely need a review

D
David Mace · November 9, 2022

If we're going for a Christmas episode, then Raw where Alberto Del Rio knocks over Santa. If not then the Performance Centre WrestleMania!

J
Jo M · November 9, 2022

There was a Raw on December 20th 1999 that had Mankind (with Mick Foley obviously being a Christmas nut) versus Santa (Tri) in a boiler room brawl with additional helpers in the Mean Street Posse. Not widely remembered but sticks out to me.

Nitro Christmas special - 1995 to 1997 say or any 3 years of nitro at Christmas, Why? Because they will have equal parts decent matches, bollix and of course alot of potential boys

A
Andrew · November 9, 2022

The 1997 Nitro would be a good one; not only is it Christmas-focused but it's also the infamous nWo Nitro which was a load of bollocks.

E
Eoin Murphy · November 9, 2022

The Christmas Eve episode of Raw from 2012. Y’know, the one where a Babyface Alberto Del Rio inexplicably runs over Santa with his car.

J
Jakob Nelson · November 9, 2022

Easily the best one night story WWE have ever done 😂

J
James Carlson · November 9, 2022

You know, other than '97, I really can't think of a good year that'd make for a good episode... Maybe the one Christmas Raw where Alberto Del Rio ran hit Santa with his car and he later had the street fight with Cena. Not cause it was a great Raw, but anything to have you boys be festive with your Del Rio bashing. XP

P
Peter Sanzone · November 9, 2022

There is a ton of bollocks on that episode, in the best way. Del Rio sells a cardboard box like a shotgun, Santa’s heart monitor plays a familiar tune. It’s the best.
