Who does OSW Patron?

Well helloooo! It's our 10th Anniversary on Wednesday 5th May!! Mental, eh? Ahead of the big day (and Hobbit video release), I thought it'd be cool to take time out and share creators who WE patron! Enjoy!

WRESTLING

POST Wrestling - John & Wai's successor to their Review-a-Wai series on Live Audio Wrestling. Patron since Day 1 - If you want quantity and quality pro-wrestling radio, with most of it free, POST Wrestling is where it's at. My most recent appearances are on their Patreon Feed; like the Simpsons Wrestling episodes, and reviewing Cowboy Bret Hart! On YouTube here's their Kenny Omega interview which is a great listen!

WCW Worldwide - Bryan is super nice and is very helpful with magazines and such for OSW (including the SWS vs WWF show!). Despite his tremendous efforts finding and cataloguing, it's v difficult to monetise archival content, so I wanted to support him this way. Enjoy this WCW 1999 wall calendar scan!

Maffew of Botchamania! Lovely guy, I'm on to him most days. An institution of the online wrestling community; really humble and thoughtful. Part of why I wanted him on OSW is to let people know how much of a good guy he is (as through text on Botchamania you can't really gauge tone). He's only been on OSW a few times but I think he gets mentioned practically every episode it's hilarious :D And for the first time ever, OOC's on Botchamania! He does a reading out of Terry Funk's book, "More Than Just Hardcore." on Botchamania 433 (early edition clicky here!)

VIDEOGAME

ReloadLastSave - Chris is my good buddy and primary video editor for OSW. He does videogame lets plays with his brother as well as some fun puppeteering work (incl. Foxy Stoat!) we did a podcast for the Resi 1 film a while back if u wanna see!

Matt McMuscles -  Friend of the show, and absolute beast of a machine, producing multiple videos per week. Best known for his WHA HAPPUN series chronicling (usually videogame) scandal; in a professional essay-type format, usually with some deep OSW references! Great dude and always has really helpful practical advice. Check out when I was on it with Wha Happun to WCW?

"Guru Larry" Bundy - lovely dude, he's been making content for literally decades now and been a fan since his Xleague.TV/Games Yanks Can't Wank days. Did you know, the Ad Break Questionarium is directly from him! (with his blessing ofc - check the end of the vid!)

Game Maker's Toolkit - Mark Brown's videogame essays. He's incredibly clever and does his research, and presents it so slickly. I jumped on board when he started doing his deep dive into Zelda's Dungeons ("Boss Keys"). Did you know? "OSW Playlist" is named after his patreon-only GMTK Playlist (a short roundup video of games he's played that month). Here's his Boss Keys zelda Vid!

LGR - Lazy Game Reviews - is not lazy at all! Clint is a warm retro videogame hardware/software reviewer, who loves Doom and has a deep voice, like the son of Duke Nukem! Enjoy his Doom on a Calculator video (that was referenced on OSW!)

StrafeFox (Splash Wave) - the new benchmark for high quality videogame documentaries. This stuff should be on TV. It's INSANE the production value. Like so high, it's distracting. Nice to get in on the ground floor before he's a million subs deep! Here's his Making of Street Fighter 2 vid! Hopefully I can finagle my way to work with him someday.

Nerrel - Dude is an extremely clever, snarky Majora's Mask Mark (loool!). He splits his time creating HD textures for Majoras Mask (seriously) and making intelligent videogame essays. My favourite is his "RE2 and the difference a camera makes" - it turned me into a Patron and was also mentioned in my RE2 Remake review. Wonderful marriage of videogame passion and meme-humour.

Avalanche Reviews - buttery-smooth voice over Jared, most famous for his Resident Evil Retrospective (which is still ongoing!). It includes all the spin-off games and RE movies and home videos etc; and has since branched out to cover more Survival Horror. He's a nice dude and has been v helpful with tehcnical Qs about YouTube (he's a massive stickler for pixel-perfect footage, it's hilarious). Here's his retrospective on REmake (my favourite Resi game)!

MUSIC

Nostalgia Road Trip - Some of you know Edgar already! He’s a longtime fan and you can catch him in the comments section and live streams. Super lovely dude and does a videogame music radio show VGM Revival Hour; much like Super OSW, which he also helps out with! Check his Saturay Morning Breakfast Mix YT Sneak Peek here!

Dankmus - Simpsons quotes turned into Dance Music. It's a shame it's only a few years old - if this came along in 2007 it'd have a million+ subs. It's SO GOOD. Sadly I only found out about Wade when he was winding down the channel (His side project "DankPods" has exploded!) but managed to get him to create B A C K L U N D for our Survivor Series '94 episode. He rejiggered it into "W E G O T B E E T S" which u should deffo check out!

Shady Cicada - Upbeat VGM cover artist that I really like. Super active with his fanbase too. Check out his Mario Odyssey cover, it's my favourite of his!

Sam Griffin - acoustic guitar videogame cover artist. He makes just beautiful renditions of videogame music. This is his spin-off from "Super Guitar Bros" which is also something u should check out! Have u seen him play Mario 2 on guitar? It's the hardest thing you'll ever see - my hands hurt just from watching!

Alina Gingertail - Russian videogame cover artist; I had to sign up after she made such a hauntingly beautiful version of Silent Hill

Little V Mills - Videogame metal artist; one of Matt's mates (he knows everyone!) you might know him as the guy who made Kenny Omega's current theme. Also the lead guitar to Cinder's theme in the Killer Instinct revival! Love his work, hope we can work together on something in the future.

OTHER CREATORS

Allison Pregler - host of movie nights and super cool lover-of-bad-tv /movie/their makeup sets! I think we actually agreed to do Baywatching WCW literally 3+ years before we did! Known her for ages - she did our Ad Break Questionarium in episode 50 - you might be able to tell we're friends as the Baywatch WCW ep is quite friendly and comfortable! Hopefully we'll be back for a follow up whenever HBK hits the beach :D

Mike Jeavons - UK reviewer famous for his "A Week On..." series. He reviews tat you can buy in the shops and various diet plans for a week or a month. I get such a kick out of seeing videos made with stuff i see around town, like Tesco basics or whatever. Often fights with his lighting and tries in vain to get his cat Basil to do something for the camera. Enjoy his "A Week On McDonalds" Day 1 vid

Patrick Brown - the Last of Us 1-2 thumbnail artist! He's ultra-talented and very accessible. Here's a pic of Dr Strange (Benedict Fizzlesnitch) reading his Dr Strange comic!

Kurzgesagt - in a Nutshell - incredible high quality animated educational channel. This stuff should be shown in schools! Here's their vid on Optimistic Nihilism

Every Frame A Painting - it's defunct now but in case they ever decide to start again, they've my money! Really clever and insightful video essays about movies. I still think about their vid on how Jackie Chan shoots his fight scenes.

JD Spears - orchestral versions of wrestling music. Really very cool stuff; exploded in popularity after his incredible Nakamura cover; has been put on pause since the middle of 2019 but hopefully he makes more. He’s busy being a videogame composer! Isn’t that awesome?

James Hornsby aka Botched Spot - awesome comic book wrestling artist; now defunct but if he ever comes back he's got my moolah! His work can be seen in the post-PPV Brock Lesnar panels on modern WWE OSWs.

Phew! And there ya go! Hope ya enjoyed reading that, and you see a few new creators ya like! If u do become a fan, let ‘em know we sent ya :)

See ya Wednesday May 5th for our 10th Anniversary Review of OOC’s The Hobbit!

What other Creators do you Patron and why? Share a link to the content that made you sign up!

Love Jay 💚

p.s. did you notice I waited to post this on the 1st in case u join their patreon, u won't get stung twice! Sneaky :D

p.p.s. ALL OF THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATIONS IN ONE YOUTUBE PLAYLIST! See ya in the funny pages!

Does AVGN have a patreon? He's literally my first Twitter follow; I'd happily chuck him money to keep him going as thanks for all his years of entertainment! (I'd much rather that than his 90s ads 🤢)

Excellent stuff. I’ve just finished the Last Of Us and I’m now watching your review of it. Excited for the Hobbit review because I hate the Hobbit trilogy. Think it’s worse than the Star Wars prequels

LOL. It was an great idea having V1, as he doesn't care for it, I'm a LOTR fan and OOC is a LOTR superfan; so u get both reverence and shouty insults as well 😂

OOC's The Hobbit out of context is great.... just like himself introducing himself as Intercontinental champion Chris Benoit

Nobody ever called him on it, but tbf I don't think girls in the early 2000s knew who CB was!
