Hobbit 3 storyboards!
Helloooo!
Thought it'd be cool to share what the Gervais animation looked like from draft to final 🙂 I work with the very talented Donald Kirby, whose fingerprints are all over the show; from Spider-Bret to the creation of AEW (Revolution) to The Last of Us 2 Ghost Ship, to this!
Have a goosie at the initial sketches, lemme know if you spot any differences between this and the final art 🎨

Love to see concept art like this (the best kind of mortal kombat extra, cooking with scorpion notwithstanding). Did you draw the thumbnails yourself, or just give the clips & general idea and have final say over it? Well done to Kirby, anyway, it came out beautiful. They deserve their reputation as the king of comics.
Thanks mate! No I describe the scenes to Donald and he sketches em, we go back and forth, then he'll have a final sketch that's approved, and then he makes the proper version! There might be some adjustments afterwards. In general I'm interested to see what the artist thought up, rather than it being pretty much just my vision. They come up with things I wouldn't have thought of!
Ooh! Just in case, "KP Plumbing" is a direct reference to this conversation on the Ricky Gervais show: KP Plumbing https://youtu.be/bI12ZAVJT8A?t=174
