Gimme those pointy ears! - Updated Miniatures
Good evening guys,
What a couple of days, huh?
First of all, we wanted to thank you all for the great welcome you have given to our new fantasy race coming this November 2023 to Highlands Miniatures, the Moredhun's Orcs.
We have been working around the clock to bring you some preview images of the minor updates we have been implementing during the last few hours, taken directly from our sculpting software. And here it is Ramon to explain the changes:
First of all, we wanted to thank you all for the lovely words and constructive feedback I have received these past few days. After an interesting talk in our Discord server with some of our patrons we have decided to elongate the ears of the Orcs to keep them in line with the classic fantasy approach for this fantasy race.
Within this minor updated you will mainly find some changes to the face anatomy of the miniature to represent a bit more the fierceness of these miniatures and to make them look more aggressive.
The overall aesthetic provided by the weapons and the armour remains the same, with this medievalesque approach we truly love and in line with our fonts of inspiration.
Finally -on a side note- we wanted to remind everyone, after some of the comments we have seen of certain Facebook groups, that we are not in a competition with any other miniature sculptors, small creators or multimillion dollar companies. We are not here to "blow out the water" any other sculptor or game company nor it is our intention. We are not here to shadow any other artist or miniatures, or to be the most liked guy around the park. We love miniatures. We sculpt miniatures we love. You may like it, you may not, but that's all.
The world is surrounded by hate these days and we try to make of this community a space of love and care. And for all of you who -even if you don't like the miniatures- maintain this community full of love and care, we truly thank you.
Borgok Skullcrusher now comes with pointy ears! Yeah, that's it. That's the update. Good night all.
Just kidding.
We have updated the Orc Warriors Command Group to make the captain a bit more fancier and posh and a banner with a few more decorative elements to reinforce the fierceness of these miniatures.
We have also updated the overall appealing of the face anatomy and expressiveness of the current Orcish units, like these Orcs with Spears or the Orcs Archers you can see below.
We have modify a tiny bit the pose of the miniatures but -again- there isn't much room to play here as they are required to fit and rank on 25mm square bases.
And finally the Orc Warriors with modular hand weapons with... *check notes*... more head changes.
If you have reached this point, stay tuned for an impressive Mounted Orcs with Spears preview coming soon and have a lovely weekend!

You are producing models a tier above anyone else in your fantasy range. .
mucho mejor, es un placer ver como teneis en cuenta el feedback de los patreons aun teniendo tantos. a mi gusto, el mejor patreon de minis de fantasia que hay
Some very generous changes, the hand swap option is what I like best. It's great being part of this community, the discord is a fantastic space and it's great seeing you discussing options with your patronage there 😁
Wow, you madlads! Amazing that you take feedback that much to heart. I also wasn't a fan of the round ears, as they were rather cute, but didn't say anything as I respect your artistic vision. But this small change is much welcome! I hope you now flesh out some of your existing ranges. New roadmap maybe?
Glad you like them Shem! There will be a new roadmap in the following weeks for the first half of 2024! :)
I like the mediaeval asthetic you have chosen for the Orks; makes them seem down to earth and more believable than some of the higher fantasy Orks of other creators.
Thank you Alastair, glad you like them!
Nice. Will there be head options without helmets too ?
before the update i was not a big fan,but after this i like them. Cant wait how the Boars will look. A small suggestion. In my opinion the way the hero hold his axe looks a little unatural(it looks a little bit like a pose for an very old metal minaiture). I think it would look better when he has the arm raised in front of him(like Grimgor Ironhide). This would give the miniature a more muscular frame and he would look more menacing.
Those are nice. They have a real nice mix of LotR-cartoon-movie-vibes and gritty medieval fantasy. Do you already know, when you gonna drop the next road-map, because I need to plan my expenses? :)
Glad you like them! That is exactly the vibe we were looking for! There will be a new roadmap coming the first weeks of November.
I like the clothes and armor of these Orcs. They look somewhat civilized and not completely barbaric like most Orc designs. When I see them, I immediately think of a rival civilization that poses a real threat to human empires, and not just some backward feral tribes. I like them a lot!
Glad you like them! We always envisioned our Orcs as an opposite faction to our Gallia line of miniatures, sharing the same space and influenced by the same aesthetic and armoury. Pretty much in the same line as the orcs in Lord of the Rings. :)
Better better. Screw the haters. Deez boyz could give'em stabba stabba.
Stabba stabba!

Glad you like the improvement Karsten!
We dont have any pointy ears :(
Much better
Excellent!
❤️❤️
Love your minis but they are costing me a fortune in Resin, can I ask if you plant to do any more Chaos type warriors?
Thank you Steve! We do not have plans to create more chaos related miniatures in the short term. :(
More Warcrafty. I like it.
I appreciate the chunky weapons! Look more orcy but also less delicate when moving them and gaming with them.
Thank you Bryan! These are, indeed, very chunky boys!
I love both versions of them. Great work 👍
❤️❤️
The Fact that you listen and communicate with your patreons is pretty cool. I’m happy to be part of it and it’s worth every penny.
Thank you so much Daniel! ❤️
unfortunately I only joined your Patreon at the last of the Dwarves release, but every release since has been exceptional, including Novembers, well done HM!
Thank you so much for the support and your lovely words Neil! ❤️
Wow I was kind of meh on the first outing - not bad by any means but just not my cup of tea. It's not big changes - but now I really really love them :D
Thank you so much Fuxx! It is crazy how little changes can modify the general look of the miniatures!
nothing but good things for you Ramon 👍best community out there and best interactions with you on the Discord
Thank you so much Cypher! ❤️

Thank you for the support Colin! ❤️
Great work. :-)
Cheers Ton!
The pointy ears make what I already though was amazing sculpts even better! Honestly you guys should be so proud of yourselves, your community engagement is amazing, you actually listen and make decisions based on what people say instead of brushing it off and unlike some other creators that are amazing artists, you guys really do cultivate a welcoming and open community. Life is about variety and you guys are just adding to that, your giving people a different flavour and like you say you either love it or hate it but the point is you offer a choice that otherwise wouldn't have been there. You work hard and that is easy to see from the sheer ammount and quality of the sculpts you guys put out. I really don't have anything but praise for this team and I'm sure the community will agree with me. Thank you for all your hard work!
It really is such a little thing, but it manages to communicate 'orc' so much stronger!
Pointy ears for the win!
These look 1000x better. I commend you on being open to feedback and constructive criticism. Not many people can do that.
Thank you Nicholas! We always appreciate good and constructive feedback!
I was fine with the last update but I do consider this an improvement. Well played for listening and keep up the good work.
Thank you Asrair! We always appreciate good and constructive feedback!
