May 2023 Preview: Sons of Ymir Vol.7!
A new massive set of Sons of Ymir miniatures is under way for the upcoming May 2023 Release in Highlands Miniatures!
As we mentioned in our previous publication -where we showcased the Dwarf Mountain Lord- this following set of miniatures "Sons of Ymir Vol. 7" will be focused on the Dwarf Rangers, including the first dwarf cavalry set of miniatures. We really wanted to focus the entire release around these miniatures -as we did last December with our Dwarf Deathseekers- because it is the only way we can truly give them the importance they deserve.
It has been great to work on these miniatures, both male and female dwarfs, as we have tried to find dynamic but powerful poses for each weapon. And with all those cloaks.. they look amazing all together!
The May 2023 Release will be composed of:
1x Dwarf Mountain Lord
5x Dwarf Rangers with crossbows
5x Dwarf Rangers with two-handed axes
5x Dwarf Rangers with spears
4x Dwarf Rangers throwing axes
3x Dwarf Rangers Command Group
4x Mounted Dwarf Light Cavalry
3x Mounted Dwarf Light Cavalry Command Group
Now, let's dive into the incredible Dwarf Rangers!
"...The Dwarf Rangers of the Three Peaks are renowned for their exceptional combat prowess, honed through generations of guardianship and unyielding determination. Armed with an array of formidable weapons, these dwarfs are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield..."
"...but the Dwarf Rangers' true hallmark is their unparalleled proficiency with the crossbows. These dwarfs possess an uncanny accuracy, able to target even the smallest weak points in their foes' armor from great distances..."
"...masters of the axe, each Dwarf Ranger wields their weapon with deadly precision, able to cleave through armor and bone with a single, well-placed strike..."
...and their skill with the pike is equally impressive, as they expertly maneuver the weapon to pierce their enemies' defenses and exploit their weaknesses. The range and reach of the pike make it an essential tool for controlling the battlefield, giving the Dwarf Rangers the ability to maintain their defensive line while still dealing devastating blows..."
"...the Dwarf Rangers senses and innate cunning make them formidable guardians, able to detect the faintest traces of those who dare to trespass in their realm..."
"...and with hearts as solid as the stone beneath their feet, the Dwarf Rangers of the Three Peaks are a force to be reckoned with. As they forge new paths in the endless quest to safeguard their mountainous haven, the echoes of their exploits resound through the peaks and valleys, inspiring awe and respect in all who hear their tale..."
These miniatures are not modular. The shields from the Dwarf Rangers with spears come separated from the bodies.

These are incredible!
I am getting an uncanny desire to paint these in a Rohan colorscheme!
Amazing sculpts as always. Really looking forward to this release.
*happy dance*
Woah, thats my Mordheim Beardlings sorted out now :)
I would trade away all dwarf cavalry forever to have a spear-armed shieldwall that looked like it meant business. Your speardwarves are okay for lone adventurers, but as a ranked unit I do not like them.
Love love love the lady dwarfs, thank you for the variety.
I hope that the cavalry will be on Goats. This would be perfect for Rangers
Magnificent work. Love them.
These are just gorgeous. I imagine you have already sculpted the Cavalry, but can I throw ponies into the ring as an appropriate mount for light, mountainous Dwarven cavalry.
are they desinged for 25mm base or 20mm bases?
Like the rest of our miniatures, they are designed for 20mm square bases, even tho some of the miniatures might be a bit tricky to rank due to the cloaks and crossbows in the back :)
So many years waiting for updated Dwarf Rangers from GW, from anyone. This was worth the wait. Absolutely stunning delivery! Beautiful models. The attention to detail on this release is noteworthy. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your lovely words and for your support Karsten, as always! 🥰
these are perfect. Love them so much. Tried to shout you out on Twitter but couldn't find a handle! Linked to your patreon instead.
Thank you very much Val, glad you like our miniatures and thank you for sharing them on Twitter! We don't currently have a Twitter account, we are a bit afraid about entering that social media platform! haha
Female Rangers, and mugs for using them as Bugmann’s! I love it.
Thank you very much Thannak!! 🥰
O man those are beautiful!
Thank you very much John, glad you like them!! 🥰
I can't wait to see the Mountain Lord mini.
Hi Cristopher! The Dwarf Mountain Lord was already showcased a few weeks ago: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sons-of-ymir-are-80987939 :)
Great release as usual!!!!
Thank you very much Alexis!!
U guys are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Oh wow! Fantastic models for wargaming but also some great character models for rpgs there because of all the equipment (and don't get me started on Mordheim) :D
Thank you very much Niels! We have always been such fans of wargamers, and we will eventually grow in that direction too!
I love the look of these rangers! are the crossbows on their backs seperate?
Thank you Shawn! By design it is really complicated to make them separated -mainly because of the attachment- so we will try to find a solution to bring them also without them :)
You did the throwing axes - Fantastic! Thanks for that.
Glad you like them Luke! 🥰
For the Dwarf Calvary you should do something a little out of the box like a giant badger or something. Rams, bears, and boars are cool for dwarves but a little over done in my opinion. The models look amazing so far! Can't wait to print them out and use them in my Kings of War Free Dwarves Army
Guinea pigs may be hard to not make silly, but you get that combo of an animal that’s known for being large so an oversized one is less of a stretch, they tunnel, and they run fast. It complicates throwing them against Skaven, but since they never incorporated other rodents with Skaven it almost seems fitting. Plus, Dwarf Fortress reference. GPs are decent livestock and Dwarfs love them as pets.
Are the stowed crossbows going to be removable (esp for the spears and great weapons)? These guys look incredible and I want to make an army out of these guys.
Thank you Raymond! By design it is really complicated to make them separated -mainly because of the attachment- so we will try to find a solution to bring them also without them :)
Absolutely fantastic designs!
Thank you very much!! 🥰
You're amazing, truly epic sculpts! Looking forward to May already :)
We are anxious to see them printed!!!
Oh those are going to be 🔥🔥🔥
Glad you like them Darrien! 🥰
